Playing and pondering...

I have 9 made so far of my Triangle Galore Blocks. My goal at the time was to make a GREEN quilt.... So far so good. But then I start to play and options present themselves. Will I just join them block by block?

Or set them on point?  Will I add another block design in between them? maybe.  I love on point, but, I always do it... time for something new...

 Space and sash them? I rarely do that, But I did play to see the choices...

Something wild? I happen to have some scrap laying here that I stuck in to see how it worked. Of course that gets me all excited! The crazier the better!

Something safe?  bright red sashing?  nah.... not a fan of that... BUT, I can see GREEN flying geese set in the RED! Scrappy geese! Lot's of different green ones, and a few  purple and blue ones just for good measure!

Now I am on to something!  Stay tuned!

OK. I read somewhere that the average lifespan of a female  is aprox 82 years of age... That would mean that  I am actually middle aged...

Wow.

Before I ponder that to much, I'm boogieing out of here to have  lunch with pals... I still like a good Birthday! No matter what that OLD number is!  ;-)

So... In the spirit of BIRTHDAY GIFTS...  
I have a gift or two for you!

I was playing with some fabrics the other, ( go figure) and I whipped up another TRIANGLES GALORE, Click here or in tutorials for the download) block, and thought it would be fun to give some fabrics away, similar to what I was playing with.
So...

I'm not sure where this quilt is going yet, but of course, I like it on point....

I really like how the ONE block with a GREEN surround glows among the other.

Playing with your layout on these blocks when your piecing, can change the pattern so easily! 

It's Exciting!

I can see many of the green surround blocks filling in between the others "on point". One block, but  anew LOOK to it, just in color placement...  I was hoping for a GREEN quilt, and I think this will give me the look I want.  (I'm totally addicted to these blocks)

Weekend round up!

Our NYC METRO MOD (BLOG) Meeting was yesterday, and I was very impressed by many new members and our art quilter's in the group! We have such a nice mix of talent that there is something for everybody! Main guild website is here.  More pics will be up at the BLOG shortly.

 This is her first attempt at making a quilt without using a pattern. Looks great!

 Christa learned paper piecing, and even broke out of the box in her layout... Beautiful!

A journey

How this quilt grew. (Then fell apart, then grew!)

A quilt journey.

Gathered blocks from the New'Bee Quilt bee.... 

Added new STARS Galore blocks, 

took out new star blocks

(I really want them to be there own quilt!)

 Played (wrestled) around with options...  played (wrestled) around with more options

 Had a whole top together and hated it... wrestle wrestle....

 got out my 12.5 template and armed with a rotary cutter

(ah ha! Down you beast!)

I cut it back to bits...

 Daughter put in her two cents...

thank you darling! ( I'll save that for something else)

 I wrestled it to the ground...

Finished cutting up all the navy/green from it's carcus....

TINY DANCER         61" X 74"

Salvaged various size navy green triangles.... 

I snuck up behind it,

and blasted it with my FAVORITE 

Tomato Red with little gold crosses Terrie Mangat crosses fabric

for the border....

Smooshed the blocks back together, 

has just enough navy green here and there to make it sparkle.

Now I'm doing the Happy Dance...

Finishes & Starts

I'm cutting binding! yippeee! I love a good finish!  Time to sit and watch all my shows in the evening on TIVO and bind my quilts... JUSTIFIED is back on tonight... WAHOO!  Love that show....Mentalist...  Like that one too...  I will get this binding sewn on, so I can finish it by hand... fabulous!

I've had a bunch of projects to finish for Feb 1st, AND I have Jury duty next week,(GOTTA HAVE HAND WORK!) so I am cruising to get things done...  I will be heading to Minnesota, mid February for my Mother's heart surgery, (on Valentine's day! I hope that is a good sign!) and will most likely be offline... So... Maybe a few posts from my iphone... and the weekly COLORFUL INTERVIEWS.

Are you in MN, in the MSP area?  Say hi, maybe we can have coffee if I get a break...   I do plan on seeing a few friends in Minneapolis.  I'm preparing a lot of hand work to take along with me!

I started a new project.  TRIANGLES GALORE tutorial ...I put the tutorial up on 15minutesplay if any of you fabulous peeps want to join me... I'm not rushing them. I'm taking my sweet time and making two blocks a week.  Join in and you can add your photos to the 15 MINUTES PLAY FLICKR group.

I'm soooo loving how they are turning out. I think I may make 12 of these blocks, then add onto it ...and give tutorials along the way...   You'll have to be patient with me, as you all know I don't plan anything in advance..I'd change it 50 times, before I ever made my decision on what and how it will all live together...

I guess that makes it sort of a mystery quilt... Or more, "Victoria's regular approach to quilt making!"

You may recall, It's the block I used for the OPERATION UNIFORM BLOCK...I had fun figuring it out, so thought it was time to PLAY with it a bit more... and GO BIG AND BRIGHT!

Anyway... If you like, or not, whatever works for you!

While Pat was here, we were on a mission to find SOFT fabric to make some infinity scarves...

I made mine up last night, and am wearing it today...  

Quick easy and well, my neck is warm, so Mission Accomplished!
