The remains of snow from our blast last week hanging off our roof! By today it was all melted! It hit around 62 today. It was so warm when we left our house to drive back to NYC, that by the time we pulled in front of our building, I realized I had left my winter coat at the house... I didn't wear it all weekend! oops. keys, drivers license... etc... darn.

of quilting a whole quilt by hand?

All washed and fabulously crinkled... Ready to be loved...

Busy week coming up. My friend Monica, whom I am teaching to quilt is on quilt Number two, which she needs to get finished quickly for a gift.
(Before I go away to FLORIDA (near end of the month)(near my birthday)
So we need to do that. And B has been sick all weekend. So I'm guessing she may be home this week... even though it's a short week for us...
We are off school from this Thursday to March 30th... Which also means, my best friend is coming in from MN wed. That will be great fun. So busy, but good things to look forward too.

It's amazing what one day of good weather can do for a person!

Rays of light quilt

STRIKE! I feel like I struck it rich when I was trying to find a backing for this quilt.

I thought what on earth am I going to put on the back of this quilt! I don't really have any PINKS besides the scraps I used in this quilt!



As I was cleaning up my studio space, (!! key word cleaning !!)

I found this OLD Robert Kaufman pink yellow purple circle crazy fabric in the bottom of a bin that I must have had for 9 years.

Since this will be a gift for a little girl, I thought how perfect and FUN it would be for the backing!



The colors are so off on this picture, it makes the quilt look so dead... I took so many other pics, and I think blogger lightens everything when it up loads... Because the first two were spot on right on my computer and they two are washed out... oh well.

Although Fabric Shack & fabric.com just delivered a yummy box of fabric to me filled with these below, and about 4 different yardages for backings... I am trying to NOT BUY ANYMORE FABRIC.... for now.

This was a great deal though,(99 cents for each of the plaids)
and I needed something to make for a boys quilt as a graduation gift... The inspiration being this quilt kit below, through Keepsake Quilting, and thought it would be perfect, since I am loving the 9 patches right now... I'm not sure it will look exactly like this, but the general idea...

I'm off to quilt out the Rays of light quilt above... Then me and hubby have a date to see, Blithe Spirit, on Broadway... Something different to do!

9 patch update

The 9 Patch Quilt is boxed and being shipped to Lovely Linda, who has offered to long arm it for us! Yippeee!

I am making a label for the 9 Patch Gather quilt, and want to have everyone who helped, have their name on it. I have attempted to keep a list, and THINK I have everyone who sent me blocks on this list.

If I forgot, I AM SO SORRY, Please send me a email. Organization is not my best quality...

weekend ponderings

I tried to take a better picture, the light was not very good, and I made sure to crop out the top of my design wall! Tonya was worried I was putting the Bumble beans words into the quilt. Silly girl. oh well, I needed a laugh.

I was also running out the door for the weekend, so the quilt is NOT straight in the picture, but in reality it is... And there is about three more rows to be put on here... This is what I got done on Friday....

I, of course, should have been finishing some backings for the last 3 UFO's I have sitting here. But why bother...? It's so much more fun to start something new....

I'm going to be making two quilts, for two special little girls. One, may get this...

So, HMMM, trying to figure out a border for this very SWEET colored
Rays of Light quilt.
Do we like piano keys? or to much?

I'm all out of the light pink gingham... And I'm trying to make do with what I have... which is lots of green, and yellow, and little bit of hot pink...

Any other ideas?
