What Light!

Here's the next UFO, I plan on finishing... It's a old top, that's been collecting dust for ages, that I figured it was time to dust off...

After a full week of rain, the clouds finally parted to give way to a little Mr. Golden Sun...
So Saturday morning after getting up early, I grabbed a stack of quilts, B, and my camera and we went for drive to find other great places to take some decent photos of them...

A little spot on the bay, was great for almost all the quilts... And the one above was in my front yard, near a sculpture... I love all those reds!

The light was so amazing on the bay. And a little walk in the woods provided a few stumps to prop up some quilts on. We managed to get a few pics, ticks, and a slug, on this blanket! Into the wash!

The bay again, my front yard fence showing the back, and this HUGE rock just down the road from me worked well!

Just follow the natural light, and it helps to not have any rain clouds looming overhead!

I do need to go around and get some better photos of a bunch of my other quilts,
even ones I've given away,
so, don't be surprised if I show up asking to take your quilt for a walk with me!

(MOM, Niece, Corina, Sherry, Marianna, etc. etc....) ;-)

Enjoy your Sunday!

Yippee, it's done and I like it after all... I tried a bunch of things on this since it was going to be mine, and I thought I didn't like it... I machine appliqued some bias tape around a few blocks to highlight them, and then added some ric rac around the little circles in the middle of each block. Not usually somethign I would do, but hey, what the heck...
gotta try somethig new once in a while...

When I pieced the back of this together, I new I would want it to live on the couch, at my house, I also new the dogs, ALWAYS climb on top of them, no matter where I lay them, so I added a little fat quarter someone sent me that was gold with dogs on it... So I lay out the blanket on the city couch to snap a few pics, and low and behold. I come back with my camera, and their those silly dogs are... they look quite happy with the new spread, don't ya think?

See what I mean. I had a bunch of folded fabric sitting on my floor next to the stacked quilt, and their is Jenny Egg, ever so carefully perched on it, sort of slipping off, snoozing away...

Do you think they know their dogs?

Maybe they think they are cats...

my lucky day

A few finishes and a little bit of luck.

(oh! I finally got a new ironing board cover, I had ot scrape the other one off it was so burnt up!)

I am sewing the binding on the above quilt. Yippee! And I whipped up this
pillow last night.
I thought it would go on my sofa, where this quilt wil live, at the house, but B claimed it... Very Quickly and loudly and with those really cute sad, puppy dog eyes...
sigh.
I'll be Whipping up another one... ;-)

Tonya, i am loving the thread... This was a little project just to play with all the colors!...

Lately, I have not had any luck on Ebay. Prices are crazy these days...

SO I was very pleased to find a plate, AND a platter to match my dishes,

a Duck to match my Haeger collection! Didn't know there was one!

Won't he look cute with these!

A Vase that sort of goes with a lamp I have! Woo hoo!

AND! And then I saw these sconces on craftynest.com and thought, COOL! Found them on ebay too! Yippee!

And lastly, This is my RED, Matisee inspired quilt top! It's not finished yet,
I had to
order a bit more turkey red. I thought I wanted to keep it all red, and would add a big border of the (top red print pattern) as a border all around. But I also have this yellow/gold/red column fabric, and had intended to use that when I started making this quilt.. But now I can't decide, so I will wait for the extra red to get here... then see what I think. I'm kind of loving the ALL RED idea...

color tuesday

Being influenced by the color around you.

Blue Hydrengeas, green grass and trees, the beach, having things that remind you of childhood, all these things heavily influence the way I work.

My house, Is pretty much all blues, greens and browns.
So yesterday,after
showing Monica how to make a coffee cozy, had to make one for myself, which lead to a new pot holder, so I will stop burning my hand on my ratty ones, to a pot holder, and then to finally update, what I use as a table runner on my table...three place mats from Johnathan Adler....

I cut them apart, and quilted them all together to make something cohesive.

My husband said, "whats that?"
I said, "you don't recognize them?"
"nope. Oh!" he said, "it's a Quoily."
I said, "a what?"
He said, "You know, a quilt - doily, a Quoily!"
"We've become doily people!"

I said," um no it's the placemats we've been using down the center of our table to rest things on for the last 3 years... Remember these?"

"OH! yeaH, I REMEMBER NOW...
"

So much for being creative!

;-)

*******

I've got green blue and brown all over my house.
No wonder it comes up in my quilts so much... Perhaps I've been to hard on this quilt...
now that I can see it in the grander scheme of things... perhaps it will live in my living room.

Find inspiration around you.

to do

Today's inspiration. Matisse! Reds, and prints, and
beautiful women wrapped in gold...
I'll be using these below.

I've been hunting and gathering.... my pile is growing!
Now to decide how they will all work together...
Stay tuned! I'm so in love with the Turkey Reds... have you seen these?
The colors are so deep and rich. woohoo!

I don't think B moved from my bed all weekend. We made it ALL WINTER not getting sick, and now, a week apart, she's on cold #2... I've always managed to not get it when my hubby had it, then B, now B again... BUT....

I'm nursing a runny nose, and a foggy head with lots of tea,
so I think I can almost say, I'm sick...
give me a day or two and I will be down for the count... DRAT!

(Love my tea stick, see here.)
(Favorite Jasmine Tea: click Here)

It has a dreadful cough along with it, so I invested in a large bottle of Honey... (the best thing to calm the cough at night)

I have several things I wanted to get finished up this week too! I have the ugly squares that are UFO's from the pile of 16, I had way back.
(Which is down to two, yippee!)
SO I figured I should just get it done. And I know some of you who actually read this, will say, Their not ugly! but for me, they are sort of not my cup of tea... there fore, I do not like them, Sam I am... Donation quilt? perhaps.

I also have been making sketches for new blocks, the ones in the same picture on the right are some of those... But I have no idea if I want to finish them... I might find a funky way to put them into something else...

I have two quilts I'd like to get quilted this week...
this one above, and the grad quilt.

Can you believe since I have no BLACK THREAD, but I have three thread stores on my street, that I can't get myself out to buy some? I get working and I don't leave the loft. Is that a problem? hmmm?....
