In recovery...

Hey it's Boo here!  Thank you for all the comments wishing Humphrey well.  We looked over them together and, because of you, Humphrey is in full time recovery.  He is even wrapped up in his very own little quilt professing his love for me.  He is one of the most important things to me, although I could not watch when he was undergoing surgery...

I'm happy to say that Humphrey will be relaxing in style for the next couple of days.  (yeah, the glasses reflect a glare and it makes it look like it is his eyes.  Creepy, huh?)

Thanks again to all of you that supported Humphrey during his surgery.

Sincerely,
Boo

time for surgery

Big day here... Humphrey is about to have surgery. He's a good old elephant who has been here since day one...  He has lost his pale lavender complexion, but that doesn't stop him from being loved. This will be Humphrey's second surgery in his 12 year existence... You can see the scars from the first surgery about 6 years ago.

Yes, he's over do for this surgery... He's also in major need of a sponge bath, but that has been outlawed by his owner."He may just fall apart, " owner is quoted as saying.

All things are ready for his operation.  Although one knows, there is no way to recover that once plush, fuzziness of his skin, we do know he will feel much better having the  loved holes sewn back together...

 He's one brave elephant.
This surgery may take awhile.. Wish him well!
To be continued...

long last finish

Yes.
I have many many quilts here, that just need Binding....
Yesterday, I pulled this quilt out, and finally got the binding done on it...

This quilt was my first attempt at a Quilting bee.

I sliced up a bunch of fabric into strips, sent each person one strip of each color
and asked that they make a 12" block wonky log cabin quilt without
cutting or cleaning up my uneven strips...then when they reached the 12"
size, to then use the scraps to make a little tiny block,

and lastly, send all the crumbs back to me,
as I used EVERY BIT OF FABRIC I bought, to make this quilt.
See that little tiny purple square upper right below Humphrey the elephant?
(someone's lovey was left on my bed!)

anywho, there are many 1/2" square bits in this quilt....

I had to throw in some stars with a print fabric... the all solids wasn't working for me...

SO this is how to NOT ADD TO YOUR SCRAP BINS...

buy it,
use it.
all of it.
(wish I could do that all the time!)

Than hang it outside to photograph it, while the fed ex man honks
at you because your still in your PJ's....
LOL!
**********

AMAZING....

We were at the children's museum the other day, and this plaque caught my eye...
Fannie Tunison...Sews and painted with only her mouth as she was paralyzed from the neck down... Can you imagine?
I googled her to see what else I could find out about her....
Miss Fannie Tunison, (click for more info) does all her work with her lips and tongue. It may sound incredible but nevertheless remains a fact, that not only she threads a needle using only her lips and tongue, but executes the most elaborate embroidery, by the sale of which to patrons she supplements her earnings. She is also American born.

Happy sewing!

Elephant love.

I  have been on a serious fabric diet.. I have NOT been buying fabric.

Much.

When Pat came up to visit, somehow we got chatting about Tina Givens line Pernilla's Journey line of fabric. I had not seen it, so I looked it up online and instantly fell for the sweet Elephants.

I'm not much of NOVELTY fabric kind of person, BUT...
If you put an elephant on it, Well, a cute elephant like this one above...I'm bound to rush our an buy it...

My "lovey" when I was a child was a HOT PINK elephant that I names Elliot. You may also call that my daughter has a lovely, named Humphrey, ( who has recovered nicely from his surgery by the way... ;-)  (see old posts here)

AND

I LOVE IT!

AND...

I've used up every bit of fabric...

sigh.

Obviously, This means,
I need to go buy more fabric... Because, THIS....

Is not King size...
and it needs to be.  SO FUN!!!

End of story.

Period.

No more fabric buying after this...

I swear. ( OK, maybe not swear...)

P.S. Thanks PAT!
And you Tina Givens!

;-) Seriously Love the elephants... and yes,
I remembered to ORDER THE ELEPHANTS this time around...

UPS man beware... I'm waiting!
