fabulous monday

CLEAN! Do you think I can keep it like this until Saturday night?
(Quilters Take Manhattan, 100 people here!)
You are rolling on the floor laughing, aren't you? Keep this clean? Right... I know, not my strong suit...
But, you know nothing is happening in the studio, if it looks like this...LOL.

I did do something I've meant to do, for a long time, today... I added onto my design wall! I added 8" at the top, and 3' to the left! Now I can fit a KING size and have extra room around it for other stuff! SOOOO happy about that!  OH, and this is a shot of the very special KIDS quilt project I've been working on... Just got backing for it, and will get basting that next week...more pics later on that...

My poor HST's are STILL hanging on to my wall... Love them, it's growing, but very very slowly...

I mailed off all my Santa's to all my Santa's Helpers today!  If you look in the corner, you can see I have made 5 blocks already. All Santas, all red's and greens and lime... Can you guess what that will become?

Yep.

My Kitchen Sink Quilt for 2012...An "Everything but the Kitchen sink, with Santa!

Sadly, the 2011 SILK version of THIS quilt,(below) is still hanging in the same spot for the past two years... one day. I just need one day...LOL.

Back to cleaning: The really great thing about cleaning one's studio is you find the PERFECT piece of Vintage Racing Cars to make a quick quilt for a very special 5 year old with Leukemia.  I do need to run to City Quilter to find something fabulous for the backing...I think it's just the thing for this wee lad.

mmmmmm..sigh... Finding the perfect thing for a special project, makes my heart smile.

;-)

  6. Well, it looks I see a door , so maybe you can hang a quilt on the door and close it LOL !!!No one will see your area if you don't want them to..Just remember your mess is part of the interesting art people like to see..:) I just moved my sewing area from upstairs lonely room to my downstairs diningroom table. We hardly ever eat there anyway. We eat on the livingroom coffee table. So my mess is visible, I decided today , its part of me so there it is!

  8. I cleaned my studio the other day, and found wonderful things. For a while, I kept wandering in just to look at the clean space. Tom, too. Then I started using it again with a vow to put things away as I go. Hmmmm. I wonder how long that will last.

  13. My sweetie came into my sewing room tonight in search of something in the closet. There is a small pile of office supplies in there because the room was formerly the family "office". Yikes! He looked, didn't find what he was looking for, almost backed into my stool next to the ironing board with the hot iron on it and then skedaddled out of there. I am a messy quilter and I always have 10 things going at once. Someday I'll have to clean up my act, if I have to, I guess . . . Love your HST quilt in progress.

  14. The only way I could keep my room as clean as this is if I locked the door and started sewing at the dining table again. It has happened, not because it was so clean, but because it was too cramped.)

  19. The studio look fabulous! A bigger design wall is a good thing! I wish I could make mine bigger, but then again would we ever have enough design wall? You have been very busy and I look foward to seeing the projects as they are completed.

  20. What a fabulous place, Victoria! Just hold your breath for a few days and you'll be fine. You know, if you're out shopping you won't get it messy!!

  21. You can do it. It can stay "neat" until the big event... Love the HST project!

  22. You started too soon. Cleaning needs to be a last minute thing, so it lasts until the main event.
Love your HST quilt. Just make a set out of each of the fabrics you buy, as you buy them... that'll get it finished in a hurry.
Please show the car quilt when you are finished. (And I hope it brings the little lad alot of joy, and a miracle cure!)
    Hugs

  24. I feel your cleaning satisfaction as I have been doing that here in my sewing room. I am so glad to see you have so many projects in progress. I am not a one project at a time person. LOL! That vintage car print is something my dad would have loved! Enjoy your big night when "quilter's take Manhattan!"
