(Quilters Take Manhattan, 100 people here!)
You are rolling on the floor laughing, aren't you? Keep this clean? Right... I know, not my strong suit...
But, you know nothing is happening in the studio, if it looks like this...LOL.
I did do something I've meant to do, for a long time, today... I added onto my design wall! I added 8" at the top, and 3' to the left! Now I can fit a KING size and have extra room around it for other stuff! SOOOO happy about that! OH, and this is a shot of the very special KIDS quilt project I've been working on... Just got backing for it, and will get basting that next week...more pics later on that...
My poor HST's are STILL hanging on to my wall... Love them, it's growing, but very very slowly...
I mailed off all my Santa's to all my Santa's Helpers today! If you look in the corner, you can see I have made 5 blocks already. All Santas, all red's and greens and lime... Can you guess what that will become?
Yep.
My Kitchen Sink Quilt for 2012...An "Everything but the Kitchen sink, with Santa!
Sadly, the 2011 SILK version of THIS quilt,(below) is still hanging in the same spot for the past two years... one day. I just need one day...LOL.
Back to cleaning: The really great thing about cleaning one's studio is you find the PERFECT piece of Vintage Racing Cars to make a quick quilt for a very special 5 year old with Leukemia. I do need to run to City Quilter to find something fabulous for the backing...I think it's just the thing for this wee lad.
mmmmmm..sigh... Finding the perfect thing for a special project, makes my heart smile.
;-)
Wow, congrats on the cleaned out space! :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a wonderful light filled space in the CITY. Thanks for the tour. The kids quilt is super. I've done a few over the years and they all have amazing stories and results. I guess it's why we quilt!!
ReplyDeleteMess that room up. I adore your HSTs! Gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI love a clean studio, but mine never stays that way!
ReplyDeleteWell, it looks I see a door , so maybe you can hang a quilt on the door and close it LOL !!!No one will see your area if you don't want them to..Just remember your mess is part of the interesting art people like to see..:) I just moved my sewing area from upstairs lonely room to my downstairs diningroom table. We hardly ever eat there anyway. We eat on the livingroom coffee table. So my mess is visible, I decided today , its part of me so there it is!
ReplyDeleteHooray for clean spaces, even if they don't stay that way long. Hope yours holds out until Saturday.
ReplyDeleteAlmost done with office cleanout/purge/organize here... sewing studio is next!
I cleaned my studio the other day, and found wonderful things. For a while, I kept wandering in just to look at the clean space. Tom, too. Then I started using it again with a vow to put things away as I go. Hmmmm. I wonder how long that will last.
ReplyDeleteawesome studio! looks great... and you have such a nice design wall.
ReplyDeleteHave I ever told you how insanely jealous I am of your studio?
ReplyDeleteLove your clean studio. What great windows you have!
ReplyDeleteVery cool fabric....just right for a tike. I think he'll love it! And....awesome studio. In my dreams mine looks like that! Ha! I am a proud member of the sisterhood of basement sew-ers.
ReplyDeleteMy sweetie came into my sewing room tonight in search of something in the closet. There is a small pile of office supplies in there because the room was formerly the family "office". Yikes! He looked, didn't find what he was looking for, almost backed into my stool next to the ironing board with the hot iron on it and then skedaddled out of there. I am a messy quilter and I always have 10 things going at once. Someday I'll have to clean up my act, if I have to, I guess . . . Love your HST quilt in progress.
ReplyDeleteThe only way I could keep my room as clean as this is if I locked the door and started sewing at the dining table again. It has happened, not because it was so clean, but because it was too cramped.)
ReplyDeleteMy dream is to cover ALL my walls with flannel and all my tabletops with cutting boards....and have all my quilt stuff organized by one of those professional closet persons...and my meals delivered!
ReplyDeleteWow! Your loft studio is fabulous. I'm drooling on my MacBook. Please tell Denyse that I miss her and hope to see her in Shipshewana this November! Thanks, Tracy
ReplyDeleteOoooh, would love to have your studio, but not in the middle of Manhattan!
ReplyDeleteSo inspiring - how I would love to come visit one day......
ReplyDeleteThe studio look fabulous! A bigger design wall is a good thing! I wish I could make mine bigger, but then again would we ever have enough design wall? You have been very busy and I look foward to seeing the projects as they are completed.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous place, Victoria! Just hold your breath for a few days and you'll be fine. You know, if you're out shopping you won't get it messy!!
ReplyDeleteYou can do it. It can stay "neat" until the big event... Love the HST project!
ReplyDeleteYou started too soon. Cleaning needs to be a last minute thing, so it lasts until the main event.
ReplyDeleteLove your HST quilt. Just make a set out of each of the fabrics you buy, as you buy them... that'll get it finished in a hurry.
Please show the car quilt when you are finished. (And I hope it brings the little lad alot of joy, and a miracle cure!)
Hugs
good luck with that!!!!! so where DID you hide all the goodies?
ReplyDeleteI feel your cleaning satisfaction as I have been doing that here in my sewing room. I am so glad to see you have so many projects in progress. I am not a one project at a time person. LOL! That vintage car print is something my dad would have loved! Enjoy your big night when "quilter's take Manhattan!"
