two oldies nearly done!

OLD POSTS for STARRY NIGHT HERE

Here are two Quilts that have been sitting here and sitting here...for over a year...
Now I know that many of you have quilts that have taken years to get finished,
but I decided to move a few out of here and I figure I can learn something also by seeing how others quilt quilts too.

Thanks Shannon, they Look great!

Neither are KING size... LOL!
So neither fit my bed very well, But they will do perfectly on a queen size...
(fat lotta good that does me! what was I thinking??)
haha!

The backings are just so yummy too. Jennifer Paganelli fabric on this one no doubt!

OLD POSTS for my ON POINT quilt HERE

My On POINT quilt, which got me back into applique... I LOVE this quilt...
I like what she did on the quilting too... Yummy texture

The flowers look all so nice and squishy!

It also has a VIBRANT purple and orange backing...

Now they will go into the BINDING pile!  How long will that take do you think???
First to pick a binding, then to think about actually doing it... LOL!
I have quite a stack that need to be done!
Some I want to quilt myself...
Some I worry I will mess up, and some I have lost interest in...

Eventually I get around to them! or not...

Hello again!

I'm BACK! I've recovered from MODEM death... Thank you Time Warner!
Although I was P.O'd at you (our cable company) for making me live 5 days without Internet,
I have to say, I got a crazy amount of work done...
I think we all need Internet vacations to get us to realize how much time
we spend on this blasted thing....

Any who!  320 posts to read in my reader... sigh. you've all been busy too!

so where to start?
I pulled some BLASTS FROM THE PASTS out to whip them up...
I put this quilt top aside because I was hung up on the PERFECT green...
Today, I grabbed any old green and finished it.
I love this quilt... NAVY Blue and Kelly green...
fabulous.
It's a QUEEN size though, and it doesn't quite fit my king size bed....
drat.

  FIELD TRIP!

Last Thursday, Andrea and I went to the Folk Art museum to see their Quilt exhibit...
Good Lordy there was some beauties in that show...  I took a ton of pictures, here are a few...
This SILK Quilt ABOVE, rocks my world...
I'm now obsessed with SILK and Velvet and wool after seeing this quilt and the one below...
Every kind of fabric in this log cabin... G L O R I O U S.

If the NORTH FACE coat company made a quilt, it would look like this...
I swear it looked like those black winter PUFFY coats...
LOVE, LOVE, love the quilting and the design.... and the very odd colors....
This was so darn cute. all the different fabric making up the horse...
Right up my alley... kookie and wonderful
And here in lies my obsession with half square triangles... These are about 1 1/4"...
Yep, I think I am crazy enough to want to make one of these....
(don't think I don't have one already in the works!)
I went home after our outing and stopped in my hood to pick up some VELVETS, and other VARIOUS SILKS... I now have a lovely lap quilt...
**Ahem, Don't think I ran home and pieced this...
I bought a yard of the pre-pieced silks and velvet,
and only had to sew on my velvet borders...
That Velvet, was hard enough to cut a straight line on...

Well, that's enough for today...  I got a load more to show you....
Gotta go bind one of them...
Toodles!

fabrics-a-flyin'!

All my little swap squares are being put to work! I am trying to get the rest of my on point blocks set so I just have to do the appliques...
I will have 12, I think, large blocks to put together for this quilt.
It's been great fun playing with color to keep this quilt balanced. Finding tones and values that work together, yet keep it punchy so each block stands alone as well as all together...

I have so many 4" blocks now, I see a fabulous 9 patch in my future...
Nothing beats a good 9 patch.. After I made this for a grad quilt for commission last year, I started to make my own, but found it hard to make the SAME quilt twice... then I saw Janet's, and that confirmed for me, that I need one for my own...
Simple is so fantastic sometimes!

So I maybe hitting those 4" blocks sooner than I thought...

I'm at the fun part with this quilt.
playing with borders, and finish details...
but alas, this DESTROYS my studio with fabrics being tossed left and right...
But who can resist making a huge mess?
well, I can't. ;-)

I'll continue to play with this, And enjoy the process of finding it's verdict!

Easy being green! and blue!

To fulfill my obsession with small stars, I put together a bunch of charms I had of Kaffe, and picked out some of my favorite greens and blues to put this quilt top together...

It goes together very quickly and easily. Although I should be binding...
I have a lot of binding I need to get to today also.

Need a great Xmas gift idea?
check these out.

When Cheri came by the other day, she very sinfully brought me a variety of Vosges chocolates.
I am putting away quite quickly, the Black Pearl bar.
wasabi
ginger
black sesame seeds
and dark cacao

(and by "PUTTING AWAY" I don't mean in a drawer....)
it means nobody else is getting any... ;-)

Yum.
they come highly recommended...

Lovely Detours

I feel like I took a big detour lately, and wanted to get back to other projects I had started before the waverunner...

I had started these applique projects and have gotten so taken in by them. I bought a couple books to figure out how to bead and embroider them a bit...
But now that
i got this batik project off my wall...

(remember the trees that shelly and I made?)
they became this...

I wanted to get back to my Dresden plate quilt...

I started cutting into all that fabulous YELLOW i picked up in Houston,
And then realized I wanted to do the same sort of thing as those little applique projects!
So now...

I have yellow in the main background part and I am blending from yellow to yellow/pink and then finally a pink border...

Once I have that done I will play around with the plates,
but for now I tacked them up to see if I like.
I LIKE!

So I guess the Detour was worth it! It's lead me on a new path... Gotta love that!
Have a great weekend!
