something new, something blue

At our last NYC MOD quilt guild, we had a scrap bag swap... I got my top made very quickly,
but never got it finished!
Our next meeting is Saturday,
so it went to the top of my list of "things to do today"...

Are you in NYC this weekend?
Send me an email,
and You can come by the meeting, it's here, at my place..
10am- 1pm Saturday.  Come by,  it will be great fun!
These two SISTERS quilts are bound and done...
They go to their new home tomorrow...

Just need to sew on the labels, and pack them up!

Here's the backs, which show a block from each others quilts.

You may recall these quilts are for two little sisters...
So they will have a little quilt bond, to go with their sister bond!

It's hard to see on this, but I had the little horse from the fabric print,
quilted into the borders all around the quilt... thanks Linda!

I dug out some solid scraps I made a while ago,
to make a few stars...
Also made some piping!  Something new!
I have never done piping, so I am trying to learn something new today...

Do you have anything new that you're working on today?

sewing on and on...

One down, and one to go! Remember these two quilts from the Summer time?
Well, I got this one above, bound last night, and have one more to bind...

The binding is sewn on, I just need to hand finish it.  I've been dying got have some finishes lately, other than the BASICS QUILTS...

Just a reminder, THE BASICS QUILT DRIVE, is an ONGOING project,
you can send quilts WHENEVER you like... (TO BASICS)
there is no deadline...
Just note that they are for COMPLETED QUILTS ONLY,
and I am not able to take any more tops to finish at this time...

Please visit the site for more info on the Quilts, where to send and updates on the raffles...

THANK YOU!
You are all so appreciated!

Still playing with a few of these guys....

Salivating over these, trying to decide what should become of them...

Here's a few NYC pics for you...
We had a BOAT trip with the Chinese officials from CHINA, for Children Adopted from China this weekend...  All the officials from the different provinces in China who help make the matches, and sift through all the paperwork that goes into adopting and making it all happen for us families, came to visit us all and out children. It was an honor and great fun to take a trip around NYC by water, showing them the sites of our city...

Boo enjoyed the children's TWEEN games, which included, MINUTE TO WIN IT sort of challenges...
She came home with a large bag of candy, and the honor of being great at "bounce the ping pong ball into a tic tac toe line" sort of game...  ;-)
The weather was wonderful Sunday, and the walk back from the piers,  to our loft, took us through the TOM OTTERNESS playground and the flea market around the corner from our  place...  Fun to stroll through....

And, not matter how many times I see the Statue of liberty, I still get a little awe struck by her...

Happy Sewing!

sister quilts

SISTER QUILTS

Two sisters,
one loves pink and green, HORSES
one loves purple and green, FLOWERS

I wanted to find a common "thread" with these two quilts...
So on the backs I added a block from each others quilts,
a pinwheel onto the circle flowers, and a circle onto the varied pinwheel

They are off to be quilted, then on to their new homes...
I have so enjoyed this commission. They have two other of my quilts.

This family bought the first
9 patch gather quilt,
"Nothing but kisses",
that was auctioned off for love without boundaries fundraiser!
They also have a baby quilt that I made when their youngest daughter was born.

So I know these quilts are going to good home.
Feels so good.

GAIL!!!!

I was so surprised to open this!!!
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU.
I love it! and it has a home on my table.

And thank you to all of you who sent me orphan blocks.
It will be a joy and pleasure to put it together, with bits from all my blog friends...

to do list...

One project off the wall. 4 remain... this green and purple is nearly done.
Appliqueing little flowers it the centers, add some cute borders...

my Big yellow scrappy stars quilt,
Needs three more stars... I keep making it bigger... sigh.
Then I need to figure out how I am going to piece all the half square triangles
around the whole thing...I'm procrastinating that just a wee bit...

then there are two smaller projects peeking out above...
But I have to get the green and purple top off my wall...

Goals for the week...
Green and purple
Three scrappy stars
Plus, I have three more quilts to bind for the BASICS quilts,
and get them photographed...before the auction so
people can see them... Some will go up for sale on their site...
will let you know when that happens...

Look at this pile of BASICS quilts!
I love seeing this stack grow...
Another 21 will be added to this stack soon...
then I have 8 more here to finish piecing...
I think then I will have completed 50 quilts
from all your house blocks you all sent in...

Family movie nights this summer,
have become VINTAGE TV nights...
We've seen little house, Bewitched, Gilligan's Island,

Name the show.

and guess the latest from the above image...
Don't you just love her dress!!! ha! what a hoot!
The dress nearly gives the show title away!
B is just LOVING these shows...

Our nature beasts are becoming a bit TO friendly...
they are just not afraid of people anymore,
and nearly come right up to you...

I'm sneaking into the city tonight, check out the paint job at the loft,
get a few things, mail, and then the doctor, back out here tomorrow afternoon...
I hope you all have a lovely day!
we have rain coming! Going to go enjoy the sun before it rolls in!

take it outside

Take it outside.

You do realize it's JULY 31st today right?
(Don't forget to pinch and punch for the first of the month tomorrow!)

EEK! Summer is whizzing by.
I took everything and everyone OUT of the house today.
Whatever you do,

Do it outside, because in a month we will be back in NYC, INSIDE THINGS...
Inside, School
Inside, homework,
Inside, sewing
Inside, snuggled under many blankets because Winter is coming.

So I kicked everyone out of the house.
including myself...
I cut my last blocks for the green and purple circle quilt,
I opened my mail, since hubby brought out a LOAD
of envelopes for me (Orphan blocks), from all you lovely Peeps!
See them all in the photo above!

I'm sending you all a little postcard, but since I did them outside, in my lap
forgive my sloppy, not sitting at a desk handwriting!

I wont' be back to NYC til Sept, so if yo0u don't get a card from me,
it's because no one is there to bring me my mail...
I'll have tin invite someone out, on the condition
that they stop by my place and bring me my mail!
(any takers? ;-)

Andrea? Amy? Helen? Marianna?
;-)

Jenny Egg would like to thank the person, who sent this lovely Dog block...

She wanted to walk off with it, but I told her
to keep her grubby little paws off it.
So she drooled on it instead...

Thank you all you fabulous peeps for your orphan blocks.
Once I get back into NYC, I'll start working on a special
Kitchen sink Quilt... the Blogger kitchen quilt. ;-)

GOODIES: I got this beauty on ebay. A summer quilt, all quilted with embroidery floss,
appliqued, and Divine.. Nobody wanted this. I got it for $29. I think it's a steal.
I LOVE IT!

Speaking of divine... Look at this lovely scrappy star quilt,
with two HALF STARS at the bottom.

Genius.

I'm so happy I own this I could well, lots of things...
Dance, sing, twirl around, or even stand on my head...

and now, lastly, one more outside chore:
a nap outside in the hammock after a dip in the pool.
After a root beer float...

Happy Sewing!
