The International Quilt Study Center and Museum is partnering with Phi Delta Theta to collect quilts for the less fortunate.
The organizations will collect new and gently used quilts of all sizes Nov. 25 to Dec. 19 at the museum, 33rd and Holdrege streets. Infant, child and adult quilts will be donated to the People’s City Mission in time for the holidays.
“Quilts offer compassion and care that goes beyond physical needs,” said Leslie Levy, executive director of the museum. “With winter and the holidays upon us, we invite our community to join us in sharing that warmth.”
Donations for the quilt drive can be made to the museum’s front desk from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. To make arrangements to deliver outside of regular museum hours, call 402-472-6549.
Beginning Dec. 2, the museum will also offer free admission through Feb. 5. To view a list of current and upcoming exhibitions, go to http://www.quiltstudy.org/.
You may also mail your gift to: Quilt House: 1523 North 33rd Street, Lincoln NE 68583.
What a wonderful project! I hope this becomes an annual tradition.
ReplyDeleteI wonder how IQSC connected with the Phi Delts. (I googled but couldn't find anything.)
ReplyDeleteI have several quilts that are completed but for binding so I would be willing to donate a few to the program. If I sent a few quilts with the binding...would there be someone who could attach the binding?
ReplyDeleteNo, sorry, This is for completed quilts only... There is no one to finish quilts, they are only gathering to distribute quickly for the holidays.
DeleteThanks!
