Last night Boo had the idea she wanted to sleep under the stars. The moon was full, the stars were bright, and it was cooler OUTSIDE then it was in our house... So I said, "Sure! Let's do it!" We got out our bug netting thing-y, to keep out the mosquito's, grabbed out blankets and pillows, and snuggled down for the night.
It was so pretty laying there, looking up at the moon and stars, but for the life of me, I could not go to sleep. I noticed Boo was tossing and turning a lot, and think she fell asleep for a bit... At 3:30am when I still had not fallen asleep, and Boo rolled over and looked at me, I said, "Time to get up stairs to bed" and she said, "OK!"
I have the worst headache, I feel completely out of sorts from no sleep! ROFL! Oh well... It was the thought that counts right? Besides that, little teeny gnat like bugs were getting in and biting us... ugh. What a night.
On a quilt-y note, the BIG Vintage star is getting stitched in the ditch today! Before I crash for a big long nap! hahaha!
Seemed like a good idea at the time, I am sure;)
ReplyDeleteWe used to tent camp, but my bones can't take the hard ground so we moved up to a tent trailer, still camping but with more comfort.
Debbie
yup, the biting gnats... they kept me up a lot as a kid, too!
ReplyDeleteOh well, it was a fun way to spend some together time.
Enjoy your nap!
I've always felt that camping was overrated, especially when there's a wonderfully soft bed available!
ReplyDeleteThe nest looks lovely....even if it didn't produce any sleep.
ReplyDeleteLove the idea of sleeping out - the bugs do bother, but believe it or not, the full moon is also a problem. It is like having a light on all the time. You know it, even when your eyes are closed. Have a good nap and stay cool.
ReplyDeleteHow did the cowboys ever do it sleeping under the open sky? I like to open all the windows in the bedroom and pretend I am outside. There are too many critters running thru my backyard at night to sleep outdoors. I live next to a metro park so there are deer, raccoons, skunks and owls kicking on the security lights! I can't wait to see you star quilt finished. Get some rest!
ReplyDeleteStill looks like a nice spot to read during the day if the bugs are bad!
ReplyDeleteFunny, people lock their doors, set their alarms, get the security lights set up....and then we go sleep outside in a tent! The memory you and Boo made last night will last a lifetine, good for you for being a great sport! Happy 4th!
ReplyDeleteEven though you don't feel all that great...just think of the memory you made! When they are grown it is amazing the things that they remember as good memories! Keep making em...
ReplyDeleteYa I'm not a camping kind of girl ....but fun adventure for you and B.
ReplyDeleteHappy Sewing, the star is looking amazing.
Very pretty but obviouls not practical. :o) I let the Mister do the outdoor "camping" with the kids. Otherwise I was happy to help them construct indoor tents with sheets in their rooms. Enjoy your nap.
ReplyDeleteGood show, Mom! Ah, the things we do for love. This is one of those memories she'll keep forever.
ReplyDeleteShe will remember you slept out... and forget the 'go to bed at 3am' part.. LOL!
ReplyDeleteIt was a grand idea; she learned her mom is up for adventures; and maybe that there is nothing quite like one's own bed. :-)
ReplyDeleteYeah, sleeping under the stars sounds very idealistic and fun, but... well like you said it is the thought that counts. Hope you both have a good night sleep tonight!
ReplyDeleteThat sounded and looked like such a GREAT idea, but I bet I would have the same problem. Lucky I can see the moon and stars and shimmers on the lake from my bed!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful Independence Day!
That sounds like a wonderful idea in theory...It would never be warm enough...nor dry enough to do that here!
ReplyDeleteLol, good ideas do not always tranlate well into reality. The most important thing is creating memories and this sounds like a night you both will remember:)
ReplyDeleteSome ideas are better than others but we often don't know until we try it out. I hope you got some sleep eventually.
