When Nifty mentioned National Corduroy day (11-11-11) I jumped right in to make another corduroy quilt. She gave out a piece of green and gold fabric to make something out of it...
I stared at it for a long time.... Odd colors...
hmm....
Maybe I should go buy some more corduroy...
What do I have here?
pink and red. Not sure about that combo!
....I really didn't want to buy more, and found the challenge of using just what I had to be quite satisfying!
I started with the center thinking of one block idea, then I just kept cutting and sewing until I didn't have any fabric left. I wanted it scrappy and random... and this is what I got...
I started to free motion quilt it, but that was to much... so I just stitched int he ditch on it... It's loose and floppy and really snugly.
I am happy to add it to my collection of other Corduroy quilts which you can see here.
Have a great day!!
Fabulous! How very Victoria! I love how you used just what you had, and made a fresh, new design. Cozy too. I'm sure you'll enjoy snuggling in this all winter. So glad you could join in the fun. Save the wales!

ReplyDeleteAnd the square of challenge fabric in just one corner - Brilliant!!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I love pink & red together.
ReplyDeleteI love pink and red, too. I painted my bedroom in those colors when I was a teenager. Sure would have loved to have your quilt to match!

ReplyDeleteI LOVE this quilt. It is so inspiring to me. One of my favorite concepts in quilting is the unexpected third dimension. You nailed it with this quilt and I'll bet you didn't even work to develop it. Serendipitous, right?
ReplyDeleteGwen Marston's next BIQR will focus on medallion quilts and this one is one I'm gonna study.
Well, of course it's HUGE! I can guess that it's snugly because Jenny Egg sure seems to like it. You're fast -- can't believe you whipped it up just like that!
ReplyDeleteWhoa! Look at you! You can sure churn out the quilts, huh? I love it!
ReplyDeleteHi, Victoria. Great corduroy quilt--interesting colors! And your silk quilt is going to be amazing. Looking forward to seeing it finished!
