People in your neighborhood?

It's been VERY interesting around here the past week... Very few words are needed for these pics...
I've had the song, ''Who are the people in your neighborhood?'' in my head all week...

Blue hair, pink hair, red hair, orange hair, green hair....
Tight clothes, old fashioned clothes,
strange clothes, men dressed as unidentified characters, animals and strange beings....
Women dressed in Vintage, scant clothing, top hats and...

and NO CLOTHES....

( yep.  I'm warning you now, to what is coming.....)

I warned you.

Please note, MUSTACHE...???
What the??

I live two blocks from the JAVITS convention center... and my hood has been inundated with all sorts of VERY INTERESTING CHARACTERS ALL WEEK.  Just another day in  NYC...

So, what's been up in your hood?

  1. Wowee can't compete with that. I wonder did they dress for the event or just picked from their wardrobe. At first I thought they were all neighbours before reading the billboard. Pretty sure I could find similar interesting character here in selected city suburbs. I especially like the sideways arrow top and are those breasts !!!

  5. I have to echo your "What the". It isn't just New York anymore, people everywhere have become more bold about expressing themselves, which is both a good thing and a bad thing. I don't care in most cases, but I would hate to have to explain to my grand daughter why she at 2 has to wear clothes when that lady doesn't.

  8. Nothing compared to your neighborhood. Hehehe, just another day in NYC. I remember the first time I came to the city and saw the naked cowboy playing(?) his guitar!

  9. This makes me realize how much I miss NYC... I only saw some deer and a snake today and the usual human characters... no comic or rather out-of-spacers here in SE Michigan

  11. Had to try to figure out how to get 4 labradors to listen to me, and go back in the house, all the while the 4 of them and the boxer next door were all trying to knock down the fence to get the possum off the top that was hanging on for dear life at 4am this morning! Other than that, nice and quiet around here.

  12. You sure live in an interesting hood. Everyone in my hood is up in arms about a break in that happened a couple of nights ago at one of the neighbors. A strange event around here.

  13. Ah....it is a lot like DragonCon in Atlanta. But the shirtless person would be more likely to be arrested in Atlanta (I think!)

  14. I always love your tours of New York and this one was a bit different too. In my 'hood today? - in a quiet Edinburgh suburb? - very quiet, people going along to the postbox to send a letter, children going with their mothers to school, the man along the way going for one of his many daily walks.

  16. Honestly, those are tame compared to what shows up at Dragoncon every year here in Atlanta. It is sort of a sport just to go downtown that week to costume watch. They are spectacular, some of the real works of art and engineering.

  18. My husband and sons were there yesterday (Sunday). He told me about the mustachioed woman and I couldn't believe it so thanks for the proof.

Trust me the costumes are even more elaborate and plentiful at Sci-Fi conventions!

  19. The dressing style to watch here for is a hoodie with their pants hanging down. More than likely they have a gun and will mug you! No characters - just criminals! I use to go for walks at lunch time, but it has gotten so bad that they will mug you in broad daylight. They just don't care!

  20. Well my hood is nothing like yours. I did see some geese fly by a minute ago! :)

  21. Yikes....the most going on around these neck of the woods is the 275lb moustached man dressed as Shirley Temple in her ringlet days...(costume shop advertiser...haha).
