CHOICES!

Hey FOLKS!  I need your help!  WOOHOO I'm so excited after, living in this loft, 12 years, and having a bare minimal bed in my master bedroom, meaning, metal box frame and two headboards that were supposed to be for Boo's room... I just got my NEW BED!  I feel like I  can finally make our bedroom a REAL decorated room.... and not just the room we hide stuff in, that we don't want visitors to see... hahaha! So, OUT goes the headboards... OUT goes the metal box frame....

IN GOES my new BROWN cozy bed, (the exact same bed I have at my house!!! I LOVE MY BED)... Add some new deep purple and white stripe sheets (LOVE STRIPES), looks good with the Raspberry ice paint job from this past summer! And also, IN GOES my RUG I bought for my KITCHEN, that was moved to my ENTRY HALL, and now LIVES in my BEDROOM!  It's all very complicated, decorating, isn't it?
So, You know I have a few KING size quilts laying around here.... This is the AFRICAN FABRIC    top I made last weekend... I was going to put that fabulous zigzag border on it, but now realize, this quilt pretty much fits this bed EXACT...  IF I put the border I wanted on it, it will go to the floor.... I may just add a 5" border down the lengths, so that it hangs the same down those sides as at the end...
It looks good right?

But then, I made this last summer with the intention of THIS one living on my bed.... I still need to add the borders...  I really like all the purples, grays and browns in this... It does look good!  And look at all the nice spots for QUILTING in the gray bits.... LOVE THAT!

Here's the Ragamuffin Quilt on the bed.. This quilt is so huge, it hangs all the way to the floor all around the bed.... Although I love this quilt, I'm not sure it's right for here, right now... I still need to applique' 2010 on it... And get it quilted...( I'll send this one out, it's WAY to big  for me to quilt...
All my bloggy pals, I see you all in this quilt!
And here is the quilt I made for my Husband probably three years ago... It has lived on our bed for as long as well...For as simple as this quilt is, I just love it.... the colors, the yellow twist to add a bit of surprise to it... I love the navy BLUE in this room...  But I think it's time for a new Quilt....
Although I love my Xmas crosses, I slept under it for  two weeks, and then took it off and put it away.. I'm so afraid of the dogs ruining it.. It's my all time favorite quilt... the "I can't believe I made that quilt"  so I keep it on my quilt pile....  Do you have a quilt like this? that you love so much you won't use it?
And lastly, my "Everything but the Kitchen Sink" quilt... This quilt seems to work everywhere...  Another big time favorite, I hate to have the dogs ruin it... decisions!!!

So?  Which one should live on my new bed??

Tell me your thoughts!

Have a great weekend!

  1. The African top and the manly one have my vote. I think the others are too busy for that rug. UNLESS you switch out that rug for something different altogether:P Decorating really is an indecisive sport at best! (sometimes)

  2. Hahaha! You are so wonderful. I think you should rotate them and sleep under a different one every night. What a great collection of quilts.

  3. I vote for the african quilt too. The rug really pulls out the colours in the top and it goes with the colour of the headboard.

  4. Hi Victoria - met you at Jackie's - I vote for your African quilt... Simple & colorful.

  5. Most of those quilts should live on your bed. By that I mean each have a time on the bed and change it out by month, or date, or what ever strikes your fancy. The headboard is great at setting these quilts off...

Now about the dogs: Time to teach/train them to NO BED.... It is a pain to train, but oh so rewarding in the long run and dogs are a long run sort of thing.

  6. I keep going back to the raspberry/gray/brown quilt top. I really like it and it adds some spice to the gray headboard.

  7. Oooh, nice! When I grow up I want a nice room like that! I love all your quilts. I agree with rotating them! The African prints and the Kitchen Sink are probably my favorites of this group... but my guess is that your quilt collection is far from complete!

  8. I think the African quilt should be the "official" bedroom quilt. It's perfect! But...as others have said, why not rotate them, since you have a choice. They're fabulous. Showcase them all!

  9. Why do you need to choose? They are all so lovely. I like the African fabric maybe best on the bed. Oh, but the Raggamuffin and Kitchen Sink are so awesome too. Hmmm.

  10. Oh, my, what wonderful choices!! Definitely some taking turns is in order. My fave is the African one -- and if you want the zig zags (which I think would look terrific!), can't you take off a row or two of the quilt, and put on the zig zag border?

  11. I would change them our seasonally -- that way you can enjoy a quilt all over again, and put it back on the shelf.

  12. I think the African quilt is fabulous...simple squares so the great prints can take center stage.

  13. You are so lucky that you have more than one and can switch them out! Mo vote goes the purple/gray with the squares that are 'askew'. Looks lovely with your new paint :-) Now I think I need to take on the challenge and make some quilts for MY bed!

  14. All of them! Have a different quilt for each month of the year. That way by the time you're tired of one quilt you can swap it out for the next one. That's my goal, to have 12 different quilts for my bed - I have 5 now and a couple others "in process".

  15. Okay, so call me biased... but you know my love of African fabrics, right? Having seen all these quilts in the flesh and realizing they are ALL drop dead gorgeous, I just love the way the simplicity and color of the African quilt look on your bed. So that is my two cents... (disclaimer: my two cents may actually be worth less)

  16. Oh by the way, love your bed! May you have many wonderful dreams... mainly of quilts!!

  17. You have so many to chose from you could use a different one each month!

I vote for the African fabric quilt. It looks outstanding.

  18. Looks to me that only two of those TOPS are quilted, so your choice is between the crosses and husband's choice. There's going to be a wait while something else is quilted!

So Husband's choice for now (since Crosses are put away). Kitchen Sink and Ragamuffin have similar looks to them, and no special quilting will even show up on them. So quilt one of those, quick quick with an over-all pattern, and put the other on the bottom of the To-Do pile.

Then you'll have to decide which to quilt next. With all your projects, it may be a while before a second one gets quilted for your own bed!

    And start the dog training.

  19. I love them all...but I'd go for your own kitchen sink, it just picks up the turquiose in the rug and looks great...but rotating them sounds fun too. the African one showcases some fabulous fabrics...but the sink quilt shows off your fabulous skills too!

  20. I like the African quilt and the Christmas crosses.

    ReplyDelete
  21. P.S. It's Valentine's Day on Monday...why not let your husband choose?!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Switch them out every month or so! Enjoy them all!

Now you need to get to work on new bedside lamps. Those are waaaay too small for the scale of your lovely bed! (I should know, I have the same problem in my bedroom!)

  23. They are all lovely, but I really like the African print quilt and the one you made for your husband!

  24. The Kitchen sink quilt, red crosses quilt and my hubby's quilt are quilted... Ragmuffin is ready to be quilted, the purple one needs borders, and just finish a small border on the African...

Also, I love cuddling with my doggies... I can't keep them off the bed, when I want them there! ;-)

I have my favorite one,(tell ya later) It's fun to hear what you all think!

  25. I vote for the African quilt! :)

  26. How nice to have TOO MANY CHOICES! I love them all but am drawn to Ragamuffin.

    ReplyDelete
  27. My fave is the xmas crosses - but seeing as you have the same dog issue I have - I wouldn't want it to get ruined. My second choice would be the Kitchen Sink - funky enough to look cool, but homespun enough to give you the warm fuzzies when you slip underneath.

  28. Purples/Grays/Browns....my favorite of all, aside from the red/green. I really would love to see you get this one quilted and on the bed. I understand your now wanting to risk that one to the dogs.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I think that I like the one made with the African fabrics the best. It looks great with the rug. My second choice would be "everything but the kitchen sink"....I LOVE that quilt.

  30. If I were your designer the African Fabrics quilt top would live on your bed for a while, but it would have to alternate with the quilt you made for your husband. Both of these tke my breath awy in the pictures.

  31. They are all so great, but I am leaning towards the Africa Fabric Top! I absolutely LOVE that one with the bed, rug, room. I really think it works the best!

Whatever you choose will be great, since they are all nice options, but that is my two cents worth!

    Have a wonderful weekend!

  32. We quilters are not short on opinions or help!

I love all your quilts. To my eye, the African compliments the sophisticated new bed most. The size is perfect too. Your zigzag border could be the start of another great quilt.

Great rug too! I want to see that sexy painting on the wall. One of yours?

I like to change up the quilts on my bed with the seasons. Right now there are three, and my hubby keeps putting my least favorite on top. I keep telling him that's the summer one, but he doesn't care.

  33. I'm saving my vote for the Napkin quilt.....when it gets king-size. Loving all the others meanwhile.

    ReplyDelete
  34. 6 quilts 12 months I vote for a rotation cycle. Dogs don't mess up quilts and they last longer.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Definitely the new african fabric quilt! It looks like it was MADE to live on THAT bed in THAT room!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Think you should give all of them a chance to please you. That´s what they´ve been born to.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I love the one you made your husband. It is beautiful.

    ReplyDelete
  38. The first and the last. I love the corners in the kitchen sink one. Also agree, that maybe if you remove some blocks from the African and add border interest. This is a problem most of us would love to have LOL!!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Now V...they are all simply divine...they each say something...and since i am sure now that the bed is there...more king quilts will be born from the mind of your GGI...i say go with what you like...and keep them folded up nearby, for whenever a new whim takes hold...but dear people...she will be making more...and trust she could quilt 6 quilts by the end of the week...smiles

    ReplyDelete
  40. Oh so many decisions! LOL definitely the new African fabrics quilt, sooooooo right! But I also love the quilt you made for your husband too! you could swap them around with the change of mood like I do! lol

    ReplyDelete
  41. Do you really want another opinion????
hahaha. Well they are all fantastic but the rug does not work with all of them. I would choose the summer one without the rug. And any of the others with the rug.

Most quilts can be washed so keep the sweet dogs with you but not on your favorite! :)

    ReplyDelete
  42. They are all great! Xmas Crosses is my favorite. But I think you should just change it out every few weeks and use them all!

    ReplyDelete
  43. First off, can I just say that I love your rug. It's awesome and I love seeing it with the quilts. I really like the purply/gray wonky squares quilt. It looks lovely with the wall color and headboard. The African quilt also looks great with the rug and so does your husband's quilt. I know what you mean about the dogs, just save the red cross quilt for special occasions. It's so gorgeous and the quilting is spectacular.

  44. I vote for rotation. get them all quilted an enjoy them all. Even the beautiful one. If you keep it hidden you won't be able to enjoy it!

  45. If it was practical I'd rotate. Boy i love those quilts! But if I had to choice ragamuffin or the one in picture number one or..........:-)

  46. Hey we didn't get to see the dresden plate quilt on the new bed! Could be awesome. I love the crosses quilt but totally understand putting it away from the dogs. I have quite a few quilts to finish that I can't see ever sharing with my dogs.

I like the African quilt, but the one that catches my eye among the unfinished quilts is the purple/gray one. That would rock!

Of course, having more than one option is even more fun. Can't wait to see what you pick.

  47. The african quilt looks best. The Crosses quilt is my favorite, too. Love your work!

  48. Wow! They are all fabulous! I think you should make your bed into a "Princess and the Pea" bed...stack every quilt on top and each day, peel back the top quilt and put it on the bottom so you have a new quilt every day! Okay, so that's just crazy, but they are all so beautiful I can't pick! I do love your red crosses, though, it's truly a work of art...but then your ginormous quilt that hangs to the floor - stunning! Love your rug, too! xo, Nan

  49. We rotate quilts in our home...for the seasons or my own whims! So fun that you have so many choices! Take advantage of that!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Ha!!!! I had the same yellow headboards in my guest room until a few years ago. When I was growing up, mine had these canopy tops just over the head part. Did you have yours growing up in Minnesota too???

Use your quilts!!! You'll eventually end up with new favorites. Make sure you stop and enjoy them every day!

  51. Personally, I like the Ragamuffin Quilt there best, but sounds lik eyou aren't feelin' it there, and it is what you like that counts! :)
