SEPT GIVE AWAY~!

I do have a habit of collecting things. I admit it.... not only things, but projects. I can't even tell you how many quilt tops I have here, not finished, or barely started. These are just a few of many many more quilt tops I've collected. I have a real soft spot for all the hard work that someone has put into making a quilt and then never finish them! So know I have them, and I STILL have not finished them... oh well. I'm getting there.

Then there are the projects. Like this baby quilt I started this summer for a little girl about to be born!
Gotta get on it! The clock is a ticking! (did you guys pick a name yet ?)

(Will get this done next week, When B goes back to school...)

Or this one that's waiting to be put together!
Yes, I do collect....

But I have to say, its all in the name of art, and as long as I am making something, I am happy.

I have all sorts of other "collections" too. not just quilts... there are the ....

Chalkware Carnival dolls
... and the...

Vintage Pottery... and the...

Enamelware bowls...But aren't they gorgeous! ...or the...

Depression glass dishes, Red Wing pottery, things that remind me of my grandparents house...

Yeah, Yeah, I know. BUT! Surprisingly, my house is very minimal and does not have a lot of stuff around, and I LOVE to get rid of things! Clean out, hand it over to someone else. The best recycling there is! Share and share a like!

I'd love to know what things that YOU collect.
I know we all do...

Now I am Collecting Comments...

***September Name Drawing***
At the end of September I'll have B draw a name out off the Collecting posts/comments and I will find Something to share with you! hmm, what shall it be!

(She is quite good at that, she just was at a raffle at our town library, and they had kids draw the winning names out of a bag. When it got to be the grand prize, she was picked to draw a name out and read it to the audience... She PICKED HER OWN NAME!... Lucky girl! )

  1. very fun post.the carnival dolls are a hoot. just one would probably be enh, but grouped together - mahvelous. I LOVE quirky collections. I have a book recommendation for you: Better Homes and Garden's Collectors' Style. It's got great eclectic, fun, bright collections.

hmm, maybe an orphan quilt would be right down your alley. that way it's a collection of all sorts of different blocks and you don't get bored making the same thing over and over again.

p.s. right now you are set up as no-reply which means no one can just email you back when you comment on their blog. just add your email to your profile if you want responses. cheers.

  2. You have so many lovely things in this post- I love the vintage ceramics and the beautiful bowls. And the baby quilt is just beautiful.
I'm not much of a collector but I do like to buy buttons- I've amassed quite a sizeable stash considering how small most of them are! When I was little I collected bookmarks(!)- I still have them in the loft, maybe I'll dig them out...

  3. I love your vintage pottery and especially the aqua/turquoise colored display! Beautiful! I collect pottery too, but can't afford most of what I really like, so it's a small collection!

I collect vintage quilts and tops too, I have a soft spot for anything I see lying around a shop appearing neglected!

  9. It's funny because i just finished a post (still a draft) with the same title about what I collect. I try to limit myself...I love fairies and now I've decided on vintage juice glasses. I'm like you...I have a more minimal look in my house, so I don't like a ton of kitschy stuff around, but i always like it at someone else's house...

  10. Collections are addicting. I seem to also adopt the unfinished quilt tops and blocks, but I have put NO pressure on myself to finish them. It seems that most of the ones that I have are not finished for a reason, they have a likeness to a parachute or something of the sorts. But I do enjoy and appreciate all of the work that went into them, nonetheless. Really, I guess it's just another form of collecting fabric, I LOVE all of the pretty colors and prints.

  17. Love all your gorgeous collections. I am not much of a collector and tend to only collect what I use. I have a colelction of cake tin liners/patty pans; and i love buttons.

  18. Quilters must all have that 'collective' gene! I am a collector as well, but finances limit what I can collect. I like to collect ideas too....I have boxes of them! have fun on this new track of collecting commments...should be an easy inexpensive collection!
