color trends: more options.

Helen had it spot on... I had this quilt on my design wall, you know, the one I SAID would be the one that would live on my bed.. that it just might be the one!  (the one that has been staring at me all week on my wall, and I ran out of fabric for! oh yeah! that one!  I Gotta say, I love it!!! Now I better finish it! I have half of the top pieced... Just got the extra fabric in the mail... It goes together so quickly... I better just do it...
Well, after all that playing around, I made the bed up as I normally do with the blankets I use on it right now... The turquoise looks really good on it too! Dang it!    Although that's a queen size, I through it over my hubby's quilt because it's freezing in our bedroom, and hot everywhere else in our loft.. go figure!

Well, you all were right.. I will rotate them,  My Favorite is the African Fabric quilt. I think I will trim it down so I can still get that zigzag border on it... It really warms up the room...  I really adore the fabrics... And look! If you watch the color trends for FALL, Pantone has their colors for this year listed... My rug sums it all up!  Thanks for all your ideas yesterday!  I so appreciate you input!  I also want to get the brown gray and purple one done, and the top solids quilt... Good to cover all my options...  haha!
Lastly, just because it's very odd...and made us laugh....We came across this guy in the subway the other day.. his sign says,
"YOUR SMILE IS BEAUTIFUL!"
Only in NYC... my friends... we see it all.

Have a great weekend!

GOOFY DAY

I had a very goofy day. A doctor appointment that didn't go as planned...
I won't bother you with details... But I am soo tired.
Instead I'll show you my solids that I am drooling over....  EEK! Don't they look good?
The inspiration quilt and napkins have slightly different colors, as I had to try to blend a few  different tones into the quilt...like purples, lavender and pinks,
ochre three different creams and four different grays... I like how it dances,
and it isn't just a perfectly laid out quilt...
EEK! again!
I'm running out of fabrics already! How can that be!  Rats and double rats!
fabric shack, here I come...

I am finishing up the quilting on the School house quilt.
I figured I better get at this ASAP before the school year is over!  I printed out BIG letters, for
R,E,A,D, and will cut them out and trace them onto the big RED squares
and quilt a letter into each red block. It should be really cute!
In fact! The Singer feather weight, boo's librarian gave me, (yes, gave me!)
is in the shop being fixed up right now!
I have made two quilts to give to Sally, in exchange for that lovely gift.  this one here above, was a baby quilt that she gave to a special wee boy... At the time, the mother is Japanese, and father is from NY, so It was a mixture of the two.. NYC fabrics, taxi cab yellow, apples,(big apple) Japanese prints etc... and then I stitched NEW YORK, and TOKYO into the quilt. She had asked that I put the name of the boy on the quilt, but at the time we didn't know what it was...  But wouldn't you know it, I had the boys name on it after all?  They named him YORK! NEW, YORK , indeed!

Ooh! I got one of my Christmas presents today!  yeah I know, late huh? But it had to come all the way from AU... How funny to open it, when it's SLEETING AND RAINING AND SNOWING outside here, and there was POPSICLES on the cover...
sigh. I'd give anything to be in AU for SUMMER right now!
I came home and also found a BIG box of three quilts (that makes my day better!)
that I had my friend SHELLY, (the other Shelly),
quilt for me on her long arm... (three less for me to quilt!)
My one and only Selvage quilt... Looks good with those Popsicles!

Summertime, summertime, sum sum summertime!

Lot's of luck.
Bet ya $10 that ground hog doesn't even pop up tomorrow... he ain't coming out til JUNE!

obsession

Just a few things hanging on my design wall....

I'm currently obsessing over my solid blocks...
although I have bounced around between 5 projects today...
I saw this OLD quilt here. click here.
I love her blog, she blogs about renovating her house...
And on that post I saw that quilt on the bed...

I  also found these napkins, and then, well,  I was totally obsessed with the colors...
Since we repainted our loft Benjamin Moore Raspberry, I have been trying to
make the perfect quilt for my bedroom...
(You know, that KING SIZED problem I have...)

Well, I am convinced this will be the quilt that will live on my bed...
(my NEW bed!  I just ordered the same bed I have at our house.. it's the coziest bed ever..)
I may eat my words on that, but for now, I am so happy infusing the blocks with touches of purple, different shades of gray-black, pink-peach, and cream-whites.

never mind the fact that I should be quilting that final quilt...
(I did do 20 rows of stitching on it today...
I gave myself permission to do 20 rows a day as it is so boring I can barley stand it)

I did put a sleeve on one of my giant quilts to hang...
Made a few 15 minute blocks, and attempted to clean up my studio once again....
so I figured I deserved a half hour of sewing
simple blocks together...

OK. So that's what I am doing today... what are you obsessing over?

By the way.

purple + gold

RANDOM SILLINESS:
I'm finding lately, that colors I have in the past ignored,
are now popping up in several projects...

I used to have an aversion to purple and gold...
We as a high school team, used to think we had the worst luck
to have had the ugliest color combo's in our division....

We wished we were RED , WHITE, BLUE or BLACK...
and just about any other color...

We thought we looked like purple grapes walking around...

I get to live vicariously through my daughter's school colors,
it's RED AND WHITE!
woohooo!

I've come to love the oddball color combo.

It looks so good with pukey green, ochre, black... even pink!

Now pink, that's a whole other story...

;-)
What were your school colors?

warming up.

These are my January SCRAP-BEE Blocks that I run at my 15 minutes play site..
I love being in a bee...
The mail you get is fantastic! Each of these MORSELS of loveliness inside the envelope
just waiting to be ripped from the package...
I have been quilting tops like crazy over here, but I had to break out and
play a little today, so I made the LARGE block in the middle...

The block had started out like this... inspired by all the p lay going on at 15 minutes...
Then I just had an idea... well, there you have it... slice'm, dice'm, and on to the next...

Over the FREEZING weekend, I did play with the denim and suiting's.... hmmm.
So many options to play with... I walked out of the room, came back
and they had all fallen on the floor... LOL!
SO much for this idea... Not sure what they will become,
I'll save that for another day...
 Somethign NEW?
Aw, what the heck... Me and BOO are heading up the Jackie's on Saturday,
so I had to come up with something NEW to play with...
I think it's time for some solid play...
Rather dull colors don't you think?  Well, let's see what becomes of them...

We never did get heat from Friday until SUNDAY eve! This was the THIRD attempt at the fuel truck trying to get into our yard... you may notice he is not parallel to the fence in this shot... He was stuck off the side of the road up against a tree.... LOL...
he was pulled out, then just drove off... this was Saturday afternoon...
Sunday afternoon, after having the driveway plowed a third time, he finally got to our house...
(insert whistles and applause here)

In the meantime... we went sledding, Hubby and Boo went first..
it was a small hill that put you out on the frozen pond as yoyu sled down it....
the ONLY thing you could possibly hit, was a hay bale,
used to sit on to put on you skates....
Well?  Yep! First go.... LOL!
We were rolling on the ground laughing...

If your going to be cold, you might as well enjoy it!

But now we;re back in NYC, and it's 84 degrees in our loft...
Awww, it's so nice being back the heat!
(Steam heat, you can't control the temperature in our building)

I'll take the heat anyday!
