ReplyDeleteThe sun is shining even though it is still freezing temperatures this early in the morning. It is very quiet in the neighborhood since most people have left for their cabins in the mountains for Easter vacation. And last, but not not least, my foot is healing after surgery last week. Hi Victoria - have been reading your blog a long while now, saw your post about the Empire show and decided to come see it. My daughter lives in Brooklyn so also a lovely "excuse" to visit. Anyhow, I actually watched your husband take the photo of you with Lace. That quilt is stunning. I made sure to have one of the ladies flip it over so I could see the back. I cannot even imagine how many hours went into that quilt. I loved it! And congratulations on the Best in Show. Belated happy birthday. Next time I will definitely say hello - guess I was feeling shy...
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Victoria! It is sunny and heading toward 65 degrees here in Kentucky...a beautiful spring day! I am doing some volunteer work, then sewing gifts for two special birthday girls in my life. Thanks for all your inspirational posts! I am new fan and loving your work.

I see your dear hubs picked the perfect prezzie for you!!! Happy Belated Birthday!
Thanks! I'm hoping for your book!
Quilty Huggs,

I’m reading this a day late but my choice about something nice would be that yesterday was the birthday of my beloved “borrowed daughter”, Kitt. She makes my life sweet and happy and PINK! Such a relief in this house of boys.
ReplyDelete(I’m thrilled to see there is a DWR book. I am inspired, but a little daunted by the curves. I have only made three throw-sized quilt tops and three crib-sized tops, so I am a beginner.)
Happy Birthday! Your birthday present DWR top is soooo lovely. Here in the Midwest, the sun is shining brightly and the breeze is warm. It's a good day!
ReplyDeleteHere's something nice: after six months of heartbreak involving a veterinary oncologist (so kind, but never someone you want to encounter three times in six month for three different dogs), yesterday we took our big boy to the vet for something normal, and got an ordinary report that all was well and not to worry and to go home and just keep loving him and taking good care of him and maybe even take a deep breath and relax a wee bit if that's possible. So, happy birthday to you, happy ordinary day to us!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Victoria! The weather is grand, the kids are all healthy and I have fabric to play with.... recipe for a wonderful day... Hope yours was glorious!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday! Today was wonderful! I got to spend the whole day in my pajamas quilting and cooking.
ReplyDeleteAlso: Green Trees, Clouds, and Walt Whitman is amazing!

ReplyDeleteIt's not a nice day weather-wise, but I've been having a very nice time hand quilting my Indigo nap quilt....and I just woke up from a very nice nap. That quilt really works!!!
ReplyDeleteLet me get this straight - your birthday and I might get a present?!? Yippee! Today is a pretty severe migraine day so what's nice about today was that not being able to drive didn't cause big problems, and I am finally feeling better. Thank you for making it even nicer. ;-D
ReplyDeleteThis entire week is especially nice for me because I'm spending it in NYC with my sister and her two lovely children. I live in Kentucky, and they all live in Denmark, so I dont get to see them or spend time with them nearly as often as I'd like. Thus, even though the weather is far from lovely, I'm having the best time.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday. What beautiful quilts. I love the white and green one. The one wedding ring quilt is also beautiful. I can tell you enjoy what you do. Thanks for having such a great give away.
ReplyDeleteLoved your video-it felt like we were having a conversation.
ReplyDeleteLove your studio (and your dog!).
I got to chat with my granddaughter (19 mos old) through FaceTime twice today. Actually I did most of the talking but she mimicked some faces I made and told me about the puppy! Happy Birthday- belated of course.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday. What beautiful quilts. I love the white and green one. The one wedding ring quilt is also beautiful. I can tell you enjoy what you do. Thanks for having such a great give away.
ReplyDeleteSomething happy about today - I saw the BEST cloud in the blue sky today - it was perfect. White and fluffy with a flat bottom and all accented with grey perfectness :) Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteToday is a class day and I have a quilt to share with my students, lent to me by a friend; Melbourne is doing Autumn so well and the sun is shining through autumn toned leaves; and I'm gazing at beautiful white gladioli while drinking my breakfast tea and reading about your very happy birthday and admiring that gorgeous birthday quilt!
ReplyDeleteSomething about today . . . I found your blog! and so glad that I did.
ReplyDeleteI found a wonderful tilting table today at a thrift store. I will use it in my sewing room. It will be great for holding strips. It will also be used for a mini design wall, auditioning block pieces. Sew excited. Happy Birthday :)
ReplyDeleteA great thing about today is that I was signed off for driving the ambulance! I love that you won awards for those two quilts. They are lovely. I felt that they were the most pleasant surprise - I hadn't seen them before - the lace one - wow! and the green trees, etc. is 3 dimensional! ReplyDeleteGreat quilt gift from your hubby. Happy Birthday! Hard to find something nice to say today (unusual for me, it's been a bad 2 days, doggy wise). Hmmm... it's finally 70 degrees and sunny today! That's really nice. Missionary friends asked about a DWR quilt to replace the one they have (25 years old, and starting to fall apart from use). I thought of you. Wish they could afford one from you. I've done very little curved piecing so far. I do want to make one one day.
