I just did some S~loopy things, following the height of two rows of blocks... I just wanted to get the motion and speed thing, figured out, and well, I went for it on manual, too. No stitch regulator! I found when I was playing, that manual moves so much smoother, then when it's in the regulated way... so much fun!
Now to find a nice binding, curl up by the fire under i, and consider today a good PLAY day!
That took me most of the day to get it going... I should have been dropping seeds in my garden, but...I guess we always have next weekend! hehe! One must sew!
I would like a quilter that just quilts, would be nice to be able to finish my quilts that way. I was looking at the new pfaff and it is nice, but we needed kitchen cabinets, so it will have to wait.

ReplyDeleteGardening here is mostly a matter of cutting things back. Our yard is determined to revert to jungle. I've been clearing out old heliconia around the banana trees, and wishing I had more yard space for a vegetable garden.

ReplyDeleteChildhood memory -- Rhubarb. I remember that growing profusely in our backyard in Ohio. We'd cut off a stalk, grab a teacup full of sugar and just enjoy it fresh.
ReplyDeleteTrees have been blooming here in the Seattle area. Camelia bushes, rhododendrons, flowering trees, etc. I's been so beautiful! I love Spring! Your garden will be beautiful when the peonies are in bloom. I just love peonies!!!!
WOW, you are so brave to put a beautifully pieced quilt top on your frame for your first time. My first time, I was a chicken and loaded a whole cloth quilt made from 4 yards of fabric, top and back. I quilted the entire quilt with every design imaginable, to get practice, with no stitch regulator. That was a great learning experience!! Enjoy your garden!

ReplyDeleteThe weather is definitely Spring, here in S.E.MN, and the rhubarb is definitely up. All the Spring bulbs have shot up in the last couple of days. Lookin' great on the Fusion! Stitch regulators aren't all they're "cracked up" to be. I prefer manual (I've been accused of being a "control freak" anyhow! Hehe!) to a regulator so didn't get that for my HQ SS and am lovin' it!!!!!! Exciting days ahead! Hugs, Doreen

Wow to your pretty quilt, and to your braveness to dive right in. I believe that's the way to do it---just do it!
I played with a HQ at my local quilt shop during a demo. Loved it! It has the mentality of how we our brain is wired----pencil on top ,paper on the bottom. That's how we work when we write or do,art. My domestic machine of course works the opposite way---you move the "paper" or fabric instead of the "pen". Both have a learning curve. From those I spoke with you will love your longarm---being able to knock out quilts independently, making them truly your complete work, at a fairly quick pace--Yeh for you. Mostly what I love about it is nothing to the right of the machine --freedom and space to just quilt. On my domestic home machine --the darn right side is always in the way.!!

Much to do this weekend--did not accomplish half of what i should have----however working on my quilt alliance quilt---so excited about that---I love it!!! my seventeen year old daughter is being inducted into the National Honor Society
On Tues. eve. ----which is a pretty big honor. She works hard and does really well in her studies. Spent time shopping for a dress--shoes etc. etc. etc....for the ceremony, so not much quilting time this weekend!!! As you say Victoria family first--of course--we are so very proud of her!

Daffodils & crocus just finished, tulips, hyacinths, just started. Forsythia in full bloom too and many flowering trees, but my magnolia blossoms were ruined by a late frost. Hoping for frost free days from now on. Love that quilt. The long arm machine looks like great fun.
ReplyDeleteCurrently living in the land of Always Blooming, aka, the tropics of Brazil, so we have flowers of some sort all year long. Lovely! I will miss, deeply, the year-round color when I one day return to Texas.

ReplyDeleteWednesday we will be in the low 30's with snow and maybe a little rain...this awful spring weather is so hard on the trees and bushes...I am keeping my fingers crossed that our fruit trees bloom soon!
You are so lucky to have the longarm...I am saving to purchase one, too, but I am not sure if I want the HQ, Gammil, or APQS Millenium. How are you liking the HQ?
I love rhubarb. I wish we had some growing here, too. :-) We finally hit the 70s today....

The dogwoods and azalea are just finishing. But I have plenty of roses in bloom :0).
