Who's been in my studio?

Don't look now! But SOMEONE has been in my Studio!  Give a girl some solids, Misty fuse and a blanket stitch, and watch her fly!
Boo's pal has a birthday this weekend, so she is making a British pillow on one side, and the US flag on the other... Well, as close as we could figure with what stash I had!   Now, if she doesn't' wake up with a fever Friday morning... We will be good to go... (she had one tonight, I have a feeling it's a stay at home day tomorrow...)

**************************

Here's a few shots of Staten Island yesterday, When I dropped off quilts at a shelter and quilts on the Acacia Mobile Medical Unit(*below) When people come in for treatment, they get a quilt...
I have more pics, but haven't gotten them loaded yet...
Video link to yesterday on youtube...

Water had rose as high as the black awning on the restaurant below... Now it sits empty, and outside is all the relief supplies from other agencies...in the street.
You can see the RED sticker on the barely standing door... it means it's not habitable any longer...
Yellow Stickers mean it was inspected, and work has to be done befor eit can be lived in again...

  4. Wow. Those photos. The devastation. This is the stuff the media isn't showing the rest of the world! I'm glad you are. And delivering quilts.

Hope Boo is feeling better and can get to her party!

  7. Wow - it is such a wreck. I can't even imagine dealing with all of that. Thank you for the work you are doing to help out.
Boo is concentrating so hard! With your guidance she will have a real head start on becoming proficient with a sewing machine and an iron!

  8. Oh, your Boo is gonna be just like you!! A lovely, generous soul!!! She is working so hard on that gift for her friend. Love it! Don't love the pics of the damage but it's so good that so many are helping. I remember what it was like to come back to our apartment in Biloxi, MS after Hurricane Camille in 1969. Stuff was all over the place after 5-1/2 feet of water rushed through our place. Being young and poor (husband was in the military at Keesler AFB) we salvaged almost everything by heading to a laundromat over in Mobile, AL to wash our clothes, then took a hose and lots of soap and water to our furniture. We found an apartment above a hardware store and moved in with our salvaged goods. We did such a good job of salvaging that when we left Biloxi, someone paid us $75 for the furniture. LOL! My friend, Monica, is on her way to New Jersey with quilts and other goodies for victims of the storm. She got some of those space bags to pack stuff in so she is fully loaded and ready to work! I watched the clip of you in the medical unit. What a great way to distribute the quilts! Keep up the good work.........but get some rest, too!

  9. Thank you for the photos. It's important to keep this disaster front and center in people's minds so that they remember to help as the holiday season begins to distract. So heartbreaking for so many.

Boo certainly is concentrating on her work. Thank you for sharing her fun. It's a joy to see.

  12. Great work V! Somehow seeing photos taken by someone you know makes a bigger impact than just seeing them on TV.

Hope B feels better today...she is doing a great job on that pillow!

  15. Love seeing Boo going after those blocks with the Mistyfuse and the machine. The fruit fell close.
The images of the aftermath are simply horrifying.
