Fabulous AMY is at it again! Blogger's Quilt Festival 2011~!
Thanks Amy for doing this again and again...
It's so much fun to flip through all the quilts to pick one favorite...
This time, it's my "Christmas Crosses 2010."
(am I predictable?)
Here's a link back to all the posts about this quilt
Sometimes, Simple is SOOO good! I had started this quilt and stuffed
it away for a year or two, then decided at the last minute last
Christmas I had to have it done...
The Above picture was when it was just a flimsy... It's the only hanging picture I had of it...
I learned a load about quilting when I took this quilt on... So much empty
space to fill in with interesting bits! The fact that i wanted this done by
Xmas maybe had something to do with the
fact that it all fell into place.. Perhaps it was a little Christmas magic!
I took the 4 stitches I new how to do well, and went for it.
Some WISE lady told me the only way you get better at quilting your quilts is to QUILT THEM.
Now that I look at this photo I see ONE RED CROSS that I missed! haha!
It's going to stay that way....
And best for last, the backing is a savored piece of Jennifer Paganelli RED & White.
It is truly one of my favorite quilts...
(well, next to my Kitchen sink quilt)
(and this year's Christmas quilt) LOL!
~~
You'll have to tune in MUCH LATER to see that one..., like say, December!
One of my faves too!!
ReplyDeleteSimply breathtaking!!
ReplyDeleteWonderful job.
I would leave the one cross that way, too.
Your signature cross.
Hugs, Deborah
Yes, this and Kitchen Sink = both are my favorites!

ReplyDeleteGosh this quilt is absolutely breathtaking!! I'm still so impressed that you quilted this yourself, Just the size is impressive but all those wonderful feathers, and the swag around the border. I love that there's one cross unquilted though. And the Casey Scroll backing is so yummy, that fabric is so "stylish Christmas".
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThis colour combination really stand out on the Festival page. I love it!
ReplyDeleteGreat quilt and the quilting is lovely. I found an unfinished place on mine, too..that's in addition to the inner borders I just decided weren't going to getvquilted between my back going out Sunday and dentalcsurgery Wednesday! Sometimes what is, just is!! Thanks for sharing and have a great day

What a beautiful work of art! the color combination is unbelievable and the quilting are simply amazing, wonderful.
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful! I can see why it's a favorite. I thought that one red cross was left undone on purpose to give it a unique flair so unless you tell, remember no one will know it was a mistake! hehe
ReplyDeleteOooh beautiful and I love the quilting!
ReplyDeleteLoved this one the first time you showed it and it is still stunning. I particularly love the quilting.
ReplyDeleteI, too, loved this quilt the first time you showed it! I like that it's green and red without being "in your face" Christmas green and red. I would totally leave the unquilted cross, too.
ReplyDeleteI think I saw you at Market on Sunday afternoon out in the hallway. Did you have a good time? I was sooooo tired yesterday.
Beautiful quilting! Was it done on a domestic maching or a long arm?
ReplyDeleteOk... so how big is it? King size? And did you quilt it on a conventional machine? It's very beautiful. Can't wait to see what you'll do this Christmas (I have my eye on the new Grinch fabric.)
ReplyDeleteThe backing fabric on this is beautiful, and your quilting on it just amazing!
ReplyDeleteThis quilt is so inspiring in terms of just going for it with the quilting! Also, I love the borders!
