Jan 6, 09 I posted this quilt..(click to see my inspiration). It's now nearly 2 years later, and I have finally had the courage to quilt it the way I wanted too... I basted it, and folded it up and put it away until I felt I could quilt it in a way that I would be happy with. So today, (even though I had other things I should be doing) I pulled the quilt out, (yet to be named), and dove right in With Circular feathers that turned into random feathers all over the inner section... I started out drawing my lines, but very quickly ignored them as it was working better for me, making it up as I went along...
I did put this BASICS KIDS top together today. I decided I wanted the family whose children helped make these blocks... You may recall this picture? These two sweeties, one other sister and their brother all helped... They were so proud of their work... I think this quilt needs to go home with them.. Don't you agree?
The really cool thing is I had ONE HOUSE BLOCK left over... So naturally it needed to find a home on this quilt...
After a productive day, I went to get my mail and Look-ie what the P.O. man brought me! See my V!
I tell ya, I've made the best blog friends ever... Stephanie form Loft creations sent me a little banner with "V" on it! I love it Stephanie! Thank you! It hangs proudly with my MARY, from Andrea of the little collection, and and my favorite blue mini from Shelly of Shellysquilts. I feel honored and blessed to have my good sewing pals!
Boo joked I should wear it as a name tag at the next guild meeting....(It would cover my entire chest...) hahaha!
And congrats to my other sweet blog pal and friend, Thea, who just got engaged!!!!
Australia here is come...
Victoria! Seems like you have really mastered the feathers! Bully for you! I think they look wonderful.
ReplyDeleteFeathers are great. Aren't you surprised how easy they are?
ReplyDeleteKids art fabulous. Oh that we could do what they do, with such freedom.
Loving your feathers - I will tackle them one day:) and your wall of special wee treasures is so cool. I hope to make some special blog friends over time - I can see that it is a world that can become a very important part of your life but it is still very new for me. And seeing your kids quilt reminds me I have one from my time at my last school that I need to quilt and get back to them........ciao
ReplyDeleteLove your feathers....I've been afraid to try them....someday soon perhaps I'll get out the dry erase board and get cracking.
ReplyDeleteDid you say you were coming to Australia?
ReplyDeleteWhich bit?
Andi :-)
Grrreat feathers! I may get the courage to try them someday.
ReplyDeleteI sat admiring your feathers. You always seem to find the answer to your quilt dilemmas.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you've mastered the feathers! So glad that last house block found a home. It works well with the other blocks. Your minis look happy hanging together. You've got some creative and generous friends. Happy Wednesday!
ReplyDeleteBought a free-motion foot for my Baby Lock in July & it's still in the box ... think I've been inspired to try something new today for 15 min today (no ... not beautiful feathers like yours ... something a little more elementary) if I can figure out the mechanics first.
ReplyDeletethat quilting looks great! and love the minis wall.
ReplyDeleteThe feathers look great! Love the quilt. I have one like that that has been sitting for nearly 2 years but I am still too chicken to quilt it. Must take a page from your book! Cheers!
ReplyDeleteYour feathers look great. I have been practicing feathers lately as well. So far they look better on paper than sewn but practice makes perfect, ha, so I think today is the day I start them on a quilt.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fitting home fot the kids quilt! And your feathers, beautiful & flowing - look perfect to me!
ReplyDeleteSnap! That's sort of what I'm doing at the moment, wandering feathers, how cool they look and it's been great practice for the feather shape.
ReplyDeleteLove your V banner and the special gits.
Go, go feathers! That quilt looks like a Southwestern canyon to me. Fun!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of that quilt going to them. Best idea of the day. :)
I love your feathers on this quilt! They're so light, airy, full and friendly looking. Did you say you were coming to Australia?
ReplyDeleteYour feathers are lovely! Random feathers are my favorite anyway, but the fact that there's no marking is such an added bonus.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure the entire family will love the quilt, especially the kids.
I love Stephanie's gift -- she's the queen of dresdens!
Your feathers look like hearts to me. That works too, doesn't it?
