new top

This is the top I started working just before xmas. I got the blocks together, and with much inspiration from the Quilt books I got for Christmas, This is what has evolved from them....
I was very inspired by Old political quilts. Red white and blue's... Banners, Mitered corners, ribbons etc... I'm really taking my time with this one... I wanted to put an updated spin on it, But I found I really liked the simple rows... So I just added chopped up corner blocks, with a hint of Chocolate Brown, as that will be the Binding... Because, REALLY, Can I do a quilt with out brown in it? or blue for that matter... I'm not so sure...

I'm about to work on the RED, BEIGE, and BLUE stripe around these. I'm very excited to see this one finished... And, after that, I need to get my GET WELL SOON quilt (CLICK HERE) finished... I had thought I didn't wash the backing, and was dreading taking out the stitching I had done already in the quilting... But after closer examination, (perhaps in my xmas frenzy,) now realize that I have indeed washed the backing, so no need to worry about all that RED smothering all my light colors... And I need to stop procrastinating and just finish the quilt!

Speaking of procrastination....

You know how the Christmas trees in the GRINCH, by Dr. Suess, always look, droopy, weighed down, and lovely. Well, except for the LOVELY part, that's what my tree looks like! Since we were away, it is all shriveled up, droopy, and just a nightmare to get all the lights off without the whole tree just giving a big wet dog shake and loosing all its needles.... EVERYWHERE. I'm to embarrassed to show it...

ALL, but one branch, is still sticking out right... this one, above. With one of the ornaments B and I made out of scrap fabrics...

(which upon opening their gift, my best friend, called to ask me if it was a
PINCUSHION!) Yeah. we are still having a good old laugh about that one....

Anywho, Whovilles' it looks like it should be hanging off the Grinch dog, MAX's antlers as he races down the hill with that big sleigh chasing after him...
