Modern Twist II

We all know and love Amy Ellis, who runs that Bloggers Quilt Festival! Her second book, MODERN BASICS II is a follow up to her first Successful book Modern Basics!

I was particularly struck by the quilt above, "Modern Twist", is a FAST EASY strip quilt that can go together in an afternoon! Even more so, look how many GREAT spaces there are for MADE FABRIC! What a great pattern to use up all your scraps! Either by inserting  MADE FABRIC in the big squares, or by using the strips!

When I make "MADE FABRIC" strips, I prefer to use a foundation or phone book paper, and I always have my handy HAVEL 8"scissors close at hand... That would be my favorite TOOL! They are never dull, and make for fast work!

Amy has a new form to fill out for a chance to win a copy of her new book! Congrats Amy, on a fun book filled with great quilts!

  2. I love that quilt too. I always have a good sharp pair of scissors. What a difference when you don't.

  3. I am so intrigued by the fact you use phone book paper --- you mean as a foundation for paper piecing?? I'm clearly going to have to explore your blog some and figure that out! Genius!
