Two new ones.

My box of goodies at the post office yesterday was my friend Shelly from Prairie Moon Quilts. I had sent her a few tops to get quilted, and inside was my African fabric quilt for my bed!  Yippee~~~~~~!!

I found this Circle African Print  a month or so ago, and though it was just what this quilt needed for a border.  I wanted to keep this quilt simple as the fabrics needed to just "Do their thing."  I'm very pleased with it! Finally!  I made this quilt top about a year and a half ago!  See old post here. It was quite a fun day!

I recently found a whole bunch of new African prints that I had not seen before, so when I wanted this quilt  finished I pulled three prints to piece the back.  I can't wait to get the binding on it and wash it, the fabrics have some really nice texture to them.

This quilt happened by accident! All these HST's were part of another quilt, and I decided I didn't like the quilt. So I took it apart and then didn't use the HST's in the new quilt, so I quickly sewed them together and I think makes a fun modern looking quilt! Perfect for my living room.

I again used some African fabrics for the backing... Isn't that a GREAT print?   I didn't have enough so I pieced in some royal blue to top it off... One more for the binding pile.

I just love stripes... I think it will do well in my house. ;-)  Greens blues and reds... perfect! Glad I saved the quilt and gave it new life!

Mmmmm, more stripes!  hahah!
Have a great day!

  4. Love the boldness of your African Quilt as much as I love the simplicity of your HST quilt.

  5. The African bold coloured quilt is fantastic and almost persuades me to make a large quilt.

  6. I posted an African dutch wax baby quilt on my blog today that I just finished quilting and binding. I love African dutch wax prints! I need to add more to my collection. Where do you get yours? The place I use to get mine went out of business and I have not found a good replacement source.

  7. Wow, this makes me looks at fabrics a different way. Just by coincidence today I'm letting my 16 year old practice highway driving and I'm making him drive me to this shop about 30 minutes away. They have has a terrific selection of African fabrics: https://www.french-nc.com/

Pizza and maybe a swim in the lake on the way home are included for taking Mom fabric buying. I'm going to give the African prints a lot more consideration now, thanks for the inspiration!

  8. The African one looks great on your bed. It was a blast to quilt because of the wild fabrics. Good idea to use them in large chunks . . . I couldn't stop looking them over! And I always love me some HSTs -- very addicting and so many things you can do with them.

  15. Adore the front, but the back really got to me. It looks like strings of Tibetan prayer flags blowing in the wind. Altogether lovely!
