BASICS GALA recap

OK, I am bombarding you with posts....
But so much has been going on, and I'm trying to get through
everything to share with you...
no worries though, once i leave wed. morn,
I will only be able to post a one picture at a time on my iphone... ;-)

BASICS/PROMESA GALA RECAP!

So Thursday was the BASICS GALA...
Remember all the House blocks that you all made, and I thought I'd be making a few quilts,
and it turned into, 60 quilts?
well, this was the second fundraiser...
he first is recapped here,
& Here
This was one big THEME , Back to the 70's/Salsa PARTY...
The couple on the right, Angela, Runs a HIV nursing Care facility for BASICS/PROMESA,
and Her hubby, Eddie, was our Auctioneer for the evening...
Nice shades Eddie!

We AUCTIONED off 11 quilts, and raised about another 13,000
Pretty good!  The last auction we auctioned off 17 quilts and raised 13,000
so fewer quilts, more money!
BASICS/Promesa has the rest of the quilts which they will sell to raise
more funds throughout the year on their site, and for special events...
So, Here's a recap in photos...
When I have the Professional photos I will post... but for now...
Bidding went crazy for the Safari themed quilt.. Here, you see someone bidding it up!
Most of the large quilts went for 900-$,1200 a piece...
Baby quilts went for $600-900 a piece
My husband, little did I know,
also bought one of the BABY quilts..

Do you think he's trying to tell me something?
LOL!  He said it's his... all his.. so there you have it! This quilt now lives with me!

Our New York Governor, David Paterson was there, and spoke,
and I presented him with a quilt on stage as a thank you for his support of the program.

This picture makes me laugh...  I'm the giant between three men!
(L-R)Hector Diaz(President of BASICS/PROMESA, ME, Governor Paterson,
and Raul Russi ( Chief Executive Officer BASICS/PROMESA)
 Fun was had by all!
They had this AWESOME SALSA band, and let me tell you, these kids
ripped up the floor with there moves!
Much better photos soon...  We all had a blast, can you tell?

You guys have been the best!
Can you believe that that one blog post for your help,
raised about $30,000!

WE ALL ROCKED!  THANK YOU!!!
