  10. I am alive and well with a roof over my head. Yesterday I had a fire inside my dryer - but I was close and got it put out quickly. This "tragedy" could have been so much worse. Instead it is a big inconvenience - but I am HAPPY to have my home spared. It is a GOOD day every day if we look for the sunny side of life.

I also learned the importance of color placement. So glad I participated. I have 108 blocks now ready to put into multiple tops.

  53. I have 3 pots of orchids I am overwintering that have been sending up their bloom shoots, 2 of them for the first time after years of not blooming, my hoya plant that I have moved from Ottawa to Boston coming on 20 years is setting bud, and my other plants are perking up with the extra light we are getting as each day becomes longer and longer as spring starts to approach.

I have been making better progress as my hand stitching improves on my EPP hexagons, and I'm considering branching out to fussy cut pentagons ala La Passacaglia! My son just started a new job the same week his unemployment ran out, and I'm surrounded by wonderful fabrics.

  55. Hi!! Valentines Day was just so sweet for me!! My little 3-year old grandson called me and said, "Happy Valentine's Day, Gammaw!" He was so sweet....and well, it just doesn't get any better than this!! :) Speaking of my grandson, I am in the middle of making a quilt for him for when he is in his big boy bed!! The splendid sampler had awakened my passion for sewing and quilting, and so now I am going to channel it into making a quilt for him!! The splendid sampler was so much fun....seeing everyone's blocks gave me inspiration and motivation, and I want to thank you for your part in this adventure!! It has truly been splendid!! :) <3 fncsteach AT msn DOT com

  56. Something happy? I am going to be an aunt for the 7th time. I have a range of nieces and nephews from 13 to 1, and all from the same sister. The odd thing is that having been an aunt 6 times, you'd think that I would be pretty casual about the whole thing, but actually I get more excited with every one. That's about the happiest, most joyous thing in my heart right now.
