Favorites!

I walked through a few times already, and each time I find a few favorites, so I thought I'd start with day one of my exploring the quilts.  It always amazes me how many people come to market and festival, and they NEVER walk through to view the quilts!

Every day of the two weeks I'm here, I go look and absorb.

So my first day of wandering, I snapped a few quick favorites.  Above, is Fly Me to the Moon, by Jerry Granata.

I have not seen all the quilts yet, but this is very high on my list, as a winner.

Next, these both (above and below) are by Bethanne Nemesh.  I'm floored by this talent in her quilting...  One day I hope I have time to build my long arming skills. But for today I just admire in awe. I love these both. I can't choose a favorite as both are unique and clearly tell a great story.

Noriko Nazawa.... this quilt was based on a kanji character. I love movement, this just grabs me and
sucks me in. I'm quite a fan of her work... I snapped two of her quilts without realizing it until I put this post together...  This, and the "Have a Nice Day" quilt below, with puzzle pieces, is also hers.

Janet Stone, nails it every time she makes a quilt.  I loved the scrappy border which has intense quilting over it, and is still visible! Her details in her work are consistently amazing...

My Brunette Whig,by Gael Stepanek and Jan Hutchinson... I have no words, it just feels like home and comfort to me.. It all just is so "right."

And lastly, my "Farm Girl" quilt... I can pick one of my own, can't I?
LOL!
I'm honored to have this special quilt juried into the show.

More to come! Stay tuned!

  6. I was also stopped in my tracks by both of those Nazawa quilts. They are so different but clearly the work of the same artist. I especially loved Have a Nice Day. I'll be studying it again when I return over the weekend.
