YURT!

A few weeks ago I decided I was going to make a YURT panel for the Wisconsin Museum of Quilts and Fiber Arts, for their challenge... I had been thinking about it, and wasn't sure what I wanted to do. I had the FALL fabric bundles, which included some Mark Cesarik Fabric and fair filed batting, and we had to use a fair amount of the fabric and only add a few other fabrics to make the panel. I thought I'd try something a bit different, that I hadn't done before... I used my Juki HZL-F600 for satin stitching.

I cut out my shapes to make my design then backed them all in Dark brown to outline them, I then fused them into place on my panel, and proceeded to go through 1,800 yards of thread, Satin Stitching all my shapes into place....

I must admit I thought it would be a fast project.  I think it took me to satin stitch,  as long as it takes me to quilt a king size quilt! I watched two seasons of some British period drama shows, while doing all the satin stitching! hahaha!  (I really enjoyed "The Paradise" and "Mr. Selfrdige" on instant download)

I had some fun free motioning the designs to quilt it... A little out of my comfort zone yet, not eh Handiquilter Fusion, but I got through it!

It was sent off a few weeks ago, and I heard last night that it is a winner! My panel will be on the Four Seasons YURT at the Museum, June 11-15th, and then it will be at the International Quilt Festival, Chicago June 19-21

I can't wait to see the rest of it, with the other panels all together! I did have a lot of fun with this, So I'm pleased that it will hang on the Yurt!! It was a perfect project to get me out of my own box!

If you get to the show, please take a picture of the yurt, for me!
I'm not sure if I will get there in time to see it! ;-)
