50 Wt set... |
Why do I love my AURIFIL 12 wt threads?
Because I can run them through the top of my machine and get some great results!!!
Look how awesome this runner looks with the quilting done in 12 wt!
Below, you can see the 12 wt used on the quilting details of the Medallion JOY quilt.
Free download here.
The 12 wt thread was also used to do the embroidery, on the center panel of the Medallion JOY quilt.
Here I quilted this in Blue and gold 12 wt thread.... and pieced with my 50 Wt thread set...
Great texture and detail to the quilt!
So pop over to the Aurifil blog ...
You can still say HI to me... though.
leave me a comment, I'll be cleaning this messy studio, and I need some encouragement!
now that the NEW STUDIO is setup, and sewing has begun!
Hi V! What great news you have over there. So exciting. I will definitely take a day off and come play sometime.
ReplyDeleteI will go enter on the blog, your threads are on my wish list! Good luck with your clean up. More of the same here. Hopefully some play time too.
Your new studio is looking great! Keep up the good work! I know it can get overwhelming, but take it one task at a time and you will get it accomplished! I can imagine it has been kind of an adventure - finding things you forgot about and clearing out items that are just taking up valuable space. You can do it! GO! GO! GO girl!!!!
ReplyDeletewhat size of needle do you use with a 12 wt. thread?
ReplyDeleteMy standard needle 16... I don't change a thing... only "slightly" loosen top tension.
DeleteYou're talking away, and I'm trying to listen, but your doggies walking in and out of the shot are cracking me up.
ReplyDeleteI'm impressed with your speedy progress - wow. Working on my new space again today, hoping to have sewing station all set up by tonight! Thanks again for cutting table measurements - that's next on the "make-it-perfect" list!!
ReplyDeleteWishing you all the best with getting your home studio in tip top shape, sure wish I could be there to help out a bit! Once you get started it will progress with speed. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteHi Victoria! I am so envious of your awesome new quilting space! If only...
ReplyDeleteBTW, I made up a batch of your Hot Chocolate mix(from the other site), and I added 1 teaspoon of very finely-ground cinnamon...it's a winner! Thank you so much for posting it.
I am a big fan of yours and own 15 mins of play-an absolute MUST reference book!
Love ya,
Jacqueline in Pitt Meadows
I showed my husband the photo of your messy room am and told him I want mine to look just like that. He just stared at me probably like me all he could see was all the fabric.
ReplyDeleteHAHA! nand that is only a portion of it. LOL! hehe
DeleteCongrats on the new "separate"space! Your almost there! Keep on keeping on. It's good to take apart your room and reorganize. Purging is a freeing experience. Once your new space is together with your old stuff, you'll get a renewed creative buzz. Can't wait to see what you make!
ReplyDeleteHow's the snow there? Here in Dutchess County, NY we have 6" already with more than 12" more expected!
Those made fabric Lemoyne stars on blue are tremendous! QBL?
ReplyDeleteHi, entered the competition so fingers crossed and thank you for the free pattern it's lovely. Linda
ReplyDeleteFUN FUN FUN!!! Now stay in, stay warm and don't slip if you 'have' to go out!!!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy seeing your new studio take shape. Look forward to seeing what you create in it :)
ReplyDeleteLove the heart quilt.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy watching you move in to your new studio. I have been organizing my fabric stash and trying to convert my son's old room into my sewing room since the beginning of the year. It's painstakingly slow. I have too much fabric and no more room to store them. I have been folding and folding and folding fabrics for over a month now. So when I see your studio taking shape I am encouraged to forge on. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteLove the 'wings' on the heart :)
ReplyDeleteSo excited for you and your new studio. Hope you are keeping warm during this arctic blast.
ReplyDeleteYour new space is great. I love the photo of the old studio after the cutting table was moved. It shows how much you had stashed in every nook & cranny! I can't wait to try the 12w thread in my Juki, it looks amazing. Do you have to change the tension on the Juki to sew with it?
ReplyDeleteHi Holly, No, I don't change my juki tension. If you are sewing on the JUKI, see the three hole guide at the top of your machine? I only run the 12wt through ONE hole, instead of looping through all of them... give that a whirl.. ;-)
DeleteI can't tell you how much fun I've had with these pictures - dreams, dreams. Glad you are having fun. Thank you for the eye candy.
ReplyDeleteCleaning really makes the scraps multiply, doesn't it? It gets absurd! Good luck on the Great Tidy of 2014!
ReplyDeleteYou know what your new space has a ton of? Light, I know your old space had many windows but it seems the new space is brighter, not sure if its the lighting or a more southern/eastern/western exposure?
ReplyDeleteThat 12 wt thread intrigues me. There are times I would like the quilting to be a stronger element but not as heavy as the pearl cotton threads that are used for the big stitch quilting. Sounds like the 12 wt could be just what I am looking for.
ReplyDeleteit has been great fun following your move and arranging your new studio and thanks for her tips using the threads. Wish I could come to a class but a but far from the UK.
ReplyDeleteYour new space is amazing ~ looking forward to seeing what you do with it!
ReplyDeleteThe Joy Medallion and the Heart are so lovely ~ I'm inspired to do some fun quilting (I can be downright boring with my quilting). I've got a heart quilt to do and think I'll look for some contrasting pink for the heart!
I am enjoying watching your new space take shape. Coincidentally, my daughter lives in NYC and is currently looking for an apartment so to see all that space made me think "where did she find that?" but then you were mentioning it is in an office type building not residential. I love checking out what you are up to and also used your info from your sight when I spent a week in NYC last fall and went to the quilty places you had listed so thanks for that! City Quilter was a fun stop. Good luck with all the moving.
ReplyDeleteI love those gigantic stars.
