Christmas quilt,done and delivered!

We headed out to our house not the 26th, and two things happened… I got the back cut for the Xmas quilt, and we noticed Jenny Egg eyes were all gooey and her jaw was hanging… She proceeded to get much worse and went to the vet on Saturday… We are awaiting blood tests on Monday… She's all medicated, and having a hard time eating, not being able to close her mouth… So, we're all a bit sad about this turn of events…She's my little shadow… Keep her in your thoughts, please.

We have a very special friend we were seeing on Sunday, who needed a quilt and a big pot of homemade Chicken soup. So this Christmas quilt had to be finished very quickly! It went on the frame Friday night, was bound Saturday night, washed,  laid out to dry, and labeled just in time to walk out the door to deliver it. I'm very pleased with how it turned out!

So here she is, Christmas quilt 2013! I rotated the star points from point up to on the axis, every other one… I like the movement, and it's less obvious then all the same… I have a hard time making the "all the same" quilt. Which explains the many scrappy patterns, and fabrics… I also ran out of LIME green, and the circles, 5 are a slightly lighter version, then the others, even though that is hard to see on this photo.  You can see int eh top photo with the backing I used some Jennifer Paganelli fabric I had been savoring, I mean, SAVING, for just the right project…I did not have enough for the backing so I used the leftover Jess Wheelahan Fabrics, screen printed letters and numbers, and one bit of Kona green! I love the mixture of the traditional print and modern stuff… So good.
...And here is the quilt in it's new home! It made itself comfy on the couch right away! Don't you love the hand painted watercolor Parrots and Macaws on the wall behind it? So perfect! It has gone on to a good home… It was a super fast and fun project that was just meant to go live here… I love it when that happens...

Now back home by the fire, Beatrice and I whipped up a batch of Hot cocoa powder to last us the winter season… The recipe is over at my Recipe blog:

Time for some appliqué by the fire… It's pouring with rain, and does not feel an OUNCE like Christmas season, here.. My grass is as green as the lime centers on my quilt… Go figure!

  9. Oh Victoria, my heart reaches across the continent to link up with yours in solidarity for Jenny Boo. I lost my Kitty earlier this month and it's still tear-inducing to think about her. I know how precious they are to us. May she pull thru this and be as chipper as she ever was. Thanks for the hot choc recipe-it's my favorite After-Dark drink.

What a great gift for your friend - did you make the soup, too? Can't believe you finished that quilt so fast... take care, enjoy the holiday time.

  29. Hoping Jenny Egg is feeling much better. Sometimes antibiotics can do wonders. I can't tell you how often I am thankful to be living in the age of antibiotics, especially when I'm tending to our beloved dogs and cats. Sending much love your way.
