  1. Love the idea of bags. Check out the link below...pillows! A shower curtain would be so cute, or pot holders or use the fabric to trim dish towels and give as a set with the pot holders.

Really cute fabric by the way!

  2. Well thats certainly holiday fabric! You could do a big old pile of place mats and invite us all for dinner or a couple of table runners...well way more than a couple! I am headed to KC too...on Sunday when Expo is over but our kids live right around the corner and we are going for the holiday. I should have flown in on Saturday. Have fun!

  3. My 1st thought would be dinning room chair slip cover backs (here is a pin I found searching just now http://www.pinterest.com/pin/37225134391149061/) with a few pillows for the couch to tie them in, or a really hip mod tree skirt (not sewn just draped around the tree on the floor in a circular swath), how bout a table cloth?

  4. Huge Modern Christmas stockings. uh...cover the wall behind the Christmas tree? maybe make LOTS of kitchen accessories as gifts or...I give up! LOL

  5. aprons... barbeque-type aprons... it would be a riot, and good for men and women! I like it a lot - somehow it reminds me of fried eggs.

    1. . . . Green eggs & ham! These are the colors of my triangles galore blocks!

  6. That is one fabulous Christmas fabric! Not quite sure how heavy home decorating fabric is in the US, but it would look great in pillows or tablerunners or those soft fabric baskets for everything between bread and flower pots!

  7. My first thought was can you return it, or is it a final sale? If not, then I would make some fabulous pillows, and I love your idea of making totes to put your Christmas presents in. They would sew up quickly, and it would be like an extra gift! I also like the suggestion for making a tablerunner and placemats. It's beautiful fabric, and I am sure that you will get creative, and come up with something fabulous!

  8. How about an ottoman or pouf? for extra seating, then you could make another cover for the rest of the year.

  9. a table cloth? arrange it around the bottom of your Christmas tree as a skirt?

  10. Don't panic! I used decorator weight fabric in my tea towel challenge quilt and it was fine. I had washed the heck out of it to soften it up and it was no heavier than a linen. That fabric is so fabulous that I would try washing it a couple of times to soften it up and then use it for the back of the quilt. Especially since you longarm the weight should not be an issue. Oh, I am somewhat ready for xmas. I got the family xmas raffle giveaway quilt done in June, so all I have left to do is make some pillowcases and cookies. I too can't believe December is right around the corner! Where did this year go? Have safe travels and lots of fun!

  11. I'm thinking tree skirt, tablecloth or shower curtain! :) See you soon in CT.

  12. I agree that you can still use it as a quilt backing. I have a quilt that is all chintz drapery fabric and I love it. I'm really taken with Kate's idea of making aprons. I can see them with some silly edging like big pompoms or a band of white minkie.
OR, cut it into pieces and give a piece to friends for a challenge exhibit.

  13. A Christmas Tree skirt, of course. Or... a pillow, bag, or, if you're like me, you'll use it in a quilt! Can't wait to see where it ends up.

  14. Put on a play of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" and use it for set decorations???

  15. How about this: Use a christmassy Accuquilt die (snow flake or reindeer or star or...) and cut out shapes for self made holiday cards or gift tags - maybe for your already handmade gift bags ;-)
Guess you would need to use steam-a-seam 2 for easier glue applique onto cardboard.
Or cut it in strips and tie around a wreath ring for an instant fabric wreath - I know you can bury, I mean use tons of fabric that way...

  16. Maybe I'm the wrong person to ask, but I'm not opposed to using some home dec fabric in my quilts. It would also make a great backing for a Christmas quilt. Doesn't have to be done by this christmas.

  17. I did the same thing....here is what I did...http://oquilts.blogspot.com/2013/07/the-no-mistake-mistake.html

  18. I love it! It would be a great tree skirt, pillows, aprons, place mats, and yes, gift bags. Not to worry, you will find lots of uses for this fabric. I've been off the pc for so long! Have a fantastic trip out west, we are having great weather right now!, clear, cool and SUNNY!

  19. Haha! That fabric reminds me of something from "The Grinch"! Good luck with that!

  20. I thought the exact same thing as Jodi!! Looks like Grinch fabric :)

  21. Just had a thought. How about getting some paper mache (sp?) boxes and covering them with the fabric so they can be nice reusable gift boxes.

  22. That fabric is GORGEOUS!!!
Happy to help you out: just ship it all to me and you'll be done with it! I'd use it to re-cover my papasan chair cushions, but truth be told, I've got more than one fabric (and a big pieced circle) already aging in stash supposedly for that purpose.
You could back a quilt with it if it isn't too large and you use the lightest possible batting. If it's King-sized it might end up very heavy.

  23. I think that fabric is great! I'd do some holiday pillows (I make holiday pillow "slipcovers" so I only have to store the covering and not a couch worth of pillows! And maybe a holiday doggy bed?! I mean they should get into the celebration too....

  24. You could overdye it another color or two or three and use it for wall quilts--home dec weight fabrics are really great for art quilts since they're heavier. Just dye it a dark navy, a dark brown, or any other darker color, you'll be surprised. You might even like the wrong side better after overdyeing, sometimes it looks even better than the right side.

  25. You can still use it for a backing, particularly if you long arm quilt it. It just makes for a heavier quilt...extra warm!!

  26. Holiday pillows for your friends! Patio furniture cushions for next summer!

    ReplyDelete
  27. i quite like it too and I would use it on the back of the quilt if 100% cotton! give it a couple of washes and dryer runs and it should be ok!
otherwise it would be a great tablecloth with matching napkins!

  28. I've used home dec fabric for backing. It lends a great weight and durability, especially for picnic type quilts.

  29. How about making some extra large totes for all your trips to EH. There's a tutorial on threadingmyway.com for a nifty bag. With all that yardage, you could make a matched set!

  30. Love the pattern on that fabric. I could see floor pillows or a few dog beds, a table cover. You could always set it aside for this Christmas and then have a home-dec challenge in 2014

  31. No fabric shall be wasted - the mantra at my house. I think it would be a great table cover.
