My "20 Things" quilt, was the only thing I worked on this weekend. I appliquéd my circles down, and then started the hand quilting. I just love it...and I hope it finds a good hope at the auction.
I had a bit of fun on Saturday night. I surprised my husband by having my stepson and granddaughter fly in from Seattle. He had no idea! I got him up from bed and took him the the front door just as they were walking in! He was so surprised... he nearly fell right over! ( I have a few more surprises for him too!) Considering he's the hardest person to buy things for, this was the best, as it was so special to him. ;-) YAY!
My hubby is one of four people in the art world, being honored on Tuesday night, by NYFA, New York Foundation of the Arts. I thought, his son and granddaughter must be there to celebrate with us! So I have company this week, and won't be getting much sewing done...
This hand work is just enough for me to do this week! Maybe I will get it done!
Have a great week! My big decision will be the Red dress or the vintage 1950's SpArkLy one.
Got a vote?
Do you have a hand project going on right now? What is it?
that is a nice surprise for you hubby and it sounds like a nice honor for his as well.
ReplyDeleteI always have a hand project going and usually 2 or 3 at least!
I vote for a red dress can never go wrong with that can you
I vote sparkely!!! I'm working on a version of Jazz Hands from Material Obsession...it's been my hand project all school year...have a great week
ReplyDeleteI am starting on a new project today, so not much hand sewing this week for me.
ReplyDeleteI love how your circles pop with the quilting stitches!
You would look feb in any dress, but I love red dresses.
Enjoy the family visit and the little break from your busy quilting schedule, you certainly have deserved one!!
I vote vintage Victoria...but I am sure you would look good in either. Great news that your husband was honoured for his work in The Arts. I am currently on holidays in Australia and on a project of English paper piecing as we travel. I always like to have something on the go. Enjoy your week!
ReplyDeleteLove,love,love the 20 things quilt,fantastic!
ReplyDeleteCan we see a pic of you in the dresses, you'll look fab in either?
Congrats to your husband on his honoring.
Binding! I always have projects stacked up waiting for that.
ReplyDeleteTo make a fair decision, I would need to see you in both dresses, but my gut is Vintage Sparkle!
ReplyDeleteVintage Sparkly - sight unseen!
ReplyDeleteI love the first photo - the colors are so vibrant, like under a black light!
I'd vote for vintage SpArkLy, even without seeing it, there will be other red dresses there! I've always got hand quilting or hand applique on the go. What an honor for your DH and that's a great surprise you pulled off! Have fun this week.
ReplyDeleteBig congratulations to Michael!! Great idea to host the family for the big event.
ReplyDeleteLove the quilt and what a lovely surprise for your husband ~ nothing better than family to share in big honors.
ReplyDeleteI've been working on a paper pieced Lamoyne star. Doing it with Denyse Schmidt fabric and loving it. It will probably take me all year to make it as it's slow going, but sure do like how it's turning out.
Sure do enjoy your blog ~ you're always so cheerful and full of inspiration for me!
What an awesome gift and congratulations to your hubby! It's nice when the gift of "family" is a "good" gift! LOL Did someone say "vintage" and "sparkly"?!?!?!?!?!?!?
ReplyDeleteHow fun! What a great surprise. I think vintage sparkly is the way to go!
ReplyDeleteI've been crocheting these past few weeks. Very portable. ox
how wonderful is that. beautiful fun
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to your husband! How fabulous! Enjoy the evening. I am hand quilting a reproduction quilt of my own design, and a modern one from one of Jane Brocket's books, plus another 4 in the queue!! It's going to be a busy Winter!
ReplyDeletePS I'm sure you'll look gorgeous in either dress!!
ReplyDeleteHey Victoria
ReplyDeleteCongrats to the hubby on his recent honor. Your surprise
Sounds just like you, sweet, and kind!! You couldn't have "purchased" something as special as his family joining in his accomplishments.
Love, Love, Love---20 things----quilt. The polka dots really make it pop. Thanks to your inspiration I'm working on mine---so far loving it---who knows maybe a bit of handwork will go on it--we'll see!
Okay, first of all you will look beautiful in whatever you wear-----however who could resist Vintage and sparkly!! So there you have my vote. I would love to see pics of you and family all dressed to the nines!!!
What about little miss Beatrice? is she going for sparkles as well?
Enjoy the celebrating with loved ones
best regards,
As always,
happy stitchin'
