Thanks AMY for this great event every year! This quilt was a real turning point for me. It really sums up what I love to do... Make fabric, as my grandmother did, and find a refreshing way to update traditional quilts...
I figure, If I can draw them, I can quilt them! And it worked! I did not draw out the feathers on this quilt, I just went for it! It paid off with a 2nd place free motion quilting ribbon, and a Judges choice ribbon! I was so surprised!
A wise friend told me you have to quilt your quilts, to get better at it... Seems obvious, but OH SO TRUE!

ReplyDeleteI love this quilt, and hearing about your method of drawing before quilting. I just started FMQ'ing a few months ago, and I've been practicing on paper a lot. It's amazing how much that really does help.
