Here's a quilt I started in 2009, finally it's done! This quilt, "Circles and Stripes" (see old
posts here) Has been sitting here, quilted, and without binding, for nearly three years! Last week I finally got around to hand sewing the biding... It actually HAD the binding attached, I just never finished sewing it down... How silly is that?
I think I will put this in my guest bedroom. Better late then never!
Have you any quilts, that just need binding? Or is it just me?
You do red so well. YES, I have a quilt I made in 2006 that just needs binding. It was a wedding quilt and the wedding didn't happen so I put it aside. Well not said wedding is happening in April. The binding is now on and I just need to finish the hand sewing. :o)
ReplyDeleteI mean "now".
ReplyDeleteLove this quilt! Aren't you glad it is done! And no it is not just you...
ReplyDeleteLove the red! I don't have any quilts that just need binding, but I don't make as many as you. You are prolific!
ReplyDeleteOh,wow, how I love that one! I cannot get enough red in a quilt. Red just makes a quilt.
ReplyDeleteBTW, picked up Quilt Almanac 2012 at the news stand yesterday. Your hexagon, FESTIVE CHEERS, looks fabulous. I must try that one.
: )
You make me feel so "normal" LOL!! This just goes to prove that we all have to be in the mood to do certain things - unless we have a deadline! It's beautiful - love the colors.
ReplyDeleteI always loved that one! Binding is not my hangup, the quilting is.
ReplyDeleteFunny thing: I remember asking you then if you planned to write a pattern for this quilt and maybe offer it for publication. You said you didn't see yourself designing quilts, you just went with the flow. Now on the sidebar is the picture of the latest Quilt Almanac with one of your (patterned) quilts in it. Just goes to show, you've come a long way baby (and in a very short time)!
I wish some of mine just needed binding! ;-)
ReplyDeleteGreat quilt!! Great back. It all looks so cozy. Can't wait to come and curl up in it sometime. Love all that red and the way the purples add contrast. Maybe there's a place for purple after all. Oh, and the bindings? I'm sure it's just you ; >
ReplyDeleteYes, that is why I am trying to teach myself to get really good at machine binding. So far so good!
ReplyDeleteThis quilt is great looking.....one of your own designs?
Happy Sewing
You aren't the only one that gets stuck on bindings. I get stuck at that stage all the time.
ReplyDeleteAt least two of my friends have sewn my bindings for me as birthday or Christmas gifts or as a trade for my watching their house when they are gone, etc.
LOVE the red circles quilt. Love the subtle stripes.
I love quilting (since I got a longarm) and binding...albeit I mostly do my bindings entirely by machine. I like to finish. What I don't love so much is making repetitive blocks. I make one, a few, and then I'm no longer fascinated with the process, and can abandon them at that point.
ReplyDeleteFun to see this one finished! The top is in my flickr faves. Some kind of "inspired by" rendition will emerge from my studio one of these years.
ReplyDeleteI do all my bindings by machine. Otherwise they would never, ever get done.
loved it then, love it now! So You! :) yep, I have them too, some are not worthy of finishing but make great teaching aids :)
ReplyDeleteI have soooo many tops waiting to be quilted....not even near the binding stage. I do believe a longarm is in my future!
ReplyDeleteWell, of course I do. I finished several oldies to put in our quilt show (had been quilted long ago, just needed binding). I still have about five that are in that state. Usually once I attach the binding, though, I get it done. It's the making of binding and attaching it that I hate.
ReplyDeleteYep, I am a big binding hang-up person. For me it is mainly the hand stitching that gets to me - so it got a bit better when I started with machine binding, but still...
ReplyDeleteLove your quilt!
I love this vibrant quilt, I really like your choice for the back!
ReplyDeletemy visiting daughter is sleeping right now under a quilt with the binding sewn on the quilt but the back side not "sewn down" so YES there is always a binding waiting to be done.
