Reinventing

Reinventing... This is an old quilt top I paid nothing for. The bow tie blocks are old and hand sewn together very crudely... Someone added the brown plaid, red stripes and some other big solid blocks.... it was a mess. It also had a big row of BLACK squares down the middle... So as an extra quick project and perhaps another gift, its getting a face lift.

I had to fix quite a few pieces as its in pretty rough shape... but I love the old feed sack blocks, so I thought it was worth doing something fun with... I picked out two different yellows for the backing. one has the modern funky birds all over it... Its, Alexander Hamiltons Aviary in yellow, and I also have a vintage looking yellow print which has reds and a dark purple in it...

I might just have to use both and piece it together, as I might not have enough Avairy... old, new, modern, classic, it all works for me...

I also got the binding on this little lap quilt. Someone said it was kind of dark, so I pieced the binding with some brights, and I think it looks much better now. I just need to hand sew the binding and I can ship that one off too.

I left the background in the photo... SO I can admit to myself I need to clean! Although, most is finished quilts, boxes for shipping, and xmas stuff... Hey, I can still lay a quilt on the floor, so its not that bad!

denial denial denial...

I'm ready for my tree, but with NYC steam heat they dry up like a twig in a fire in about one week. So, we'll go to our house on Long island this weekend, at least I can put up my FAKE SILVER vintage tree there... I just can't believe its Christmas already though.. Wasn't it just Christmas yesterday?

Oh and not to bore anyone with family pics, but for my family/friends, I added pics to our family page. check it out here. It's been a long time since I did that...
