Just desserts in FRESH QUILTS

Last summer, while taking a two day break to sew, at Millhouse Quilts in Waunakee, WI , while on the road last summer teaching... I was sewing together tons of these little pieces...

I posted some pics of what I was working on , but not the full picture... I thought it would be fun now, to see how my current favorite quilt,  came together...

I believe I posted these little boats and the garland of wedges last summer...There was a lot of guessing going on as to what I was making...  hehehe! Those boats, pressed, turn into little sweet mini dresdens...

From strings of scraps... to....

These cuties!

Before quilting...

After quilting.... not a great shot, off my iPhone...

My quilt,  "Just Desserts" getting it's 'beauty shot' for FRESH QUILTS MAGAZINE...

And finally.... FRESH QUILTS is out on newsstands, so you too, can make my favorite current quilt!!
I had a nap under it today.... ;-) It works well!

I'm off on family vacation...
DISNEY CRUISE,
then to California, where Beatrice and I will have mom/daughter time to play!
I'll be back in time to see the Empire Quilters Urban Legend quilt show!
( and in time for my BIRTHDAY, March 29th!  )

time to put my feet up, and relax... catch you on the flip side!

  1. What a neat quilt! Reminds me of the pastel coloured sugared almonds we used to have
at Christmas with family when I was a child - long time ago!!
    Have a great holiday!

  2. Love this quilt and its story!! Who could have guessed what those little boats would become. Hoping your cruise will bring still more delights. See you at the show...

  3. This was my favorite quilt in the magazine. Just love the idea of how this quilt was made. I purchased the Sizzix small tumbler die so I could make this quilt. Wish me fun!
