SILKS!!!

Jackie carries the Fusible Interfacing for lightweight fabrics in her shop, Visit here.

Here's the gold shimmery linen used in a quilt.  I also used a white embroidered cotton in this quilt for different texture.  My Friend Linda, at Cottage Garden quilts, Quilted this one... Isn't it pretty?
You only get a peak of this quilt...   haha!

Heres' the fun linen.  It's a dot thing, How could I resist?

And lastly, this funky floral, from MOOD...the designer is Roberto Cavalli... Yeah, THAT guy! Now what will I make with it?  Now you see why I live in a dangerous neighborhood? I could go broke buying all these fun fabrics!

  3. Love your videos - it's just like I'm stopping in to visit your studio. Roberto Calvali - beautiful!! Hey, don't forget to check and see if that piece of silk I gave you is right for this quilt.

  5. LOVE how that shiny gold linen turned out in that quilt! And the quilting is so perfect. It looks kinda like a museum frame you put your old dutch masters in.
The videos are great, too, much more direct and I like them. Way easier than hoping your writing sounds like your talking! Cool.
Vlog lol that's a good name.

  6. Loving your videos. I have small pieces of Kimono Silk in my stash and didn't know what to do with it; thanks for the idea of stabilizing it.

  7. These videos are so great. I feel like I'm there in your studio, soaking it all up. I have some silk from a designer sample book that I've been wanting to sew together. I think I need a background piece to tie it all together. What interfacing are you using?

  11. We just had a speaker at our guild who talked about quilting with silks. I've been looking for some fun material to play with. She uses it for English Paper Piecing, applique, and regular quilting.

I can't wait to see it completed!

  16. So pretty! Do you fuse all the silks (likely not with the heavier ones) you work with? Do you do anything different in piecing a silk quilt block as opposed to a cotton one?

  17. Love, love, love that floral! Great blocks - hope you enjoyed playing.

  18. Just like having you across the table. Thanks for sharing. Twice this week I have noticed the 'pop-up' iron. I haven't seen that here in Australia. Maybe I just haven't looked?
Is it a brand or iron, or a device that you add to the iron?

  19. I'm very much enjoying your videos, the nearest thing to a visit to your studio and it makes the quilts and the fabrics more "real" too. The video works perfectly here using Chrome.

  20. I love the way your silk reflects and absorbs light. If you are going to do that much fusing perhaps you should invest in a garment press?!

  21. These videoblogs are fantastic. Hope you keep on doing them>
    Thanks

  22. I have made one quilt with silks and cottons. It was one of those outside the block quilts and the centers of the squares were silk - I will email you a picture. I used dupioni so it was heavy enough that I didn't need to interface it. The silk adds a lovely luster! Love the gold shiny linen fabric. It looks so beautiful quilted!
