Irene is hanging around....

Lucky for us, we seem to be on the fringe of the storm.... It really hit more towards NYC,
and I am so glad we did not go back to the city!
We've been getting hit with the BIG winds here ins East Hampton...
60-70 mph since 7 a.m. this morning...  The electricity is off and on, but so far,
it's been been coming back on. You sort of get the feel of the wind in the picture above...
everything is leaning just a bit...  They said we'd be getting the big winds til at least noon today.
 and it's 9:42 now...
The girls made our basement into our "shelter" last night... We were very happy when the
storm took longer to get here, or I would not have slept at all...
Alice and I got some sewing in before the storm... They won't be leaving tonight...
They can't even get through to the airlines to get their flights rebooked...
We are happy they are still here... ;-)  We don't want them to go...

I taught Alice to paper piece yesterday... I thought this Cyclone, or Virginia reel block was quite appropriate for the Hurricane... ;-)  She did great too! Love it!

  2. Northern NJ is now calming down. Lost power for about 4 hours but everything is fine now.
    Stay safe and dry.

  3. We are getting the heavy gusts now and local flooding. Power is gone, but we are all set. Though, I was thinking what I could do and everything that I am in the mood for, involves my sewing machine and power, lol. I hate to use it and have a surge and destroy the computer in it, so not worth it, will find some hand stitching.

  4. SO glad you are all safe. We have been checking in with everyone we know on the East Coast. So. VT is getting hit hard with water but not with the BIG winds. We're hoping the brook doesn't flood. 24 hours and counting of the weather channel. Sending big hugs. Stay safe.

  7. Well, we didn't get much summer here in the NW, but we also don't get these terrible storms. I hope you are safe and sound, all tucked in at home. Alice made the perfect block for her visit! Good company is always welcome for a few extra days, take care!

  9. Glad you're all ok. We're still getting wind gusts here in Pa. My daughter is spending her first days at college without power.
