And then when I told her, she was already planning on how she wanted to make her little quilt. The theme is "Welcome Spring" and the fabrics include a grass print, stones, print, clouds, and flowers.
So, she will decide, and learn, put together etc, then send the completed quilt down to the shop for them to display all the entries, and then of course they pick winners, (sort of all around) Very cute, and will be a fun project to work with her on.
For $15.99 I thought it would be a good way to inspire her to do another project.
I got this from my husband. I thought it was pretty funny, but its actually serious. So Now I am very curious, and can't wait to see what it says... Since, customer service is not a priority in NY anymore... so it seems...
I'm always so surprised when we go back to MN, and people are SO NICE, it makes me suspicious! But, that's why they call it "Minnesota Nice"... People are generally really nice. Just in NY you have to wait for it to happen....
So, you saw our Christmas card. We have taken B's picture in Strawberry Fields in Central park, every year.
For those who don't know, it's where a memorial in the walk way just inside Central Park, across the street from the Dakota, where John Lennon was shot. It's very pretty.
It's been a special place for us. We have always, Since we've been together, gone their on Christmas day, to sit and reflect. Later, We got Engaged there, and then as I said, we've taken B's picture there every year. So, as always for the last 14 years, Christmas day, after Santa presents are opened, we go to Central Park, visit, play, soak up some sun, no matter how cold or warm it is...
This year it was warmish. A bit of wind, but loads of Sun.
Near Sheep Meadow
B takes a walk across the icy ground, climbing on half melted, random, half made snowmen scattered in the park.
Earlier in Nov. I had posted this picture of her when all the yellow ginko leaves where on the ground in the same spot of the park...

Than B and daddy, strolled along as I lolly gagged, taking pictures of trees, people, and whatever...
We are now at our house on long island til the new year. Ahhhh....
relax, feet up by the fireplace... Thinking about getting out my flower garden quilt to do some more hand sewing. But maybe not....

Looks like you had a wonderful Christmas and that B really liked her presents! And what girl could go wrong with quilting books and gift certificates!
ReplyDeleteI'm very interested to see what The Civility Solution says. Moving back to L.A. from Colorado (and before that Northern California) was such a rude awakening. I think it was what I hated most (and believe me, there are many things that I don't like) - all the nasty people. Have a great time in Long Island.
ReplyDeleteHope B loves making the quilt. The pics at Strawberry Fields are wonderful - definitely a spot I'd like to visit someday.
ReplyDeleteIt is going to be fun watching B design and make ehr quilt. Hope she can get started on it right away!
ReplyDeleteYoua re building a lot of wonderful memories. :-)
We moved from Colorado where life was good! It was such a happy place...the sky was blue and the sun shined and the people smiled...
ReplyDeleteThen we moved to Ohio were it's always grey and the people here are grouchy and unhappy.
I remember when we first moved to Ohio and when I said hello to the grocery clerk, they replied with..."You're not from around here are you."
I am crossing my fingers that the sun shines more in Wisconsin and the people are happy. Maybe being close to the nice people in Minnesota...some of the niceness will spill over the border into Wisconsin?!
Can't wait to see the quilt that B creates. What a great winter project.

ReplyDeleteB's face was priceless! I'm thinking she loooved the quilt.I was dying with laughter when you mentioned that you get suspicious of people in Minnesota because they are so nice...Nick felt the same way in South Carolina - and he's 7! He kept asking me what everyone was up to..hilarious! I'm guessing I should have a look at that book some time soon
