What do you call someone who does a lot in a short period of time and then looses interest and moves on to the next thing until they lose interest in that?

Well, that's me.

This is what I do...

I'm responding to a couple comments I got the other day, all very nice. Thank you!

I make a lot of stuff.

Being an artist is all I have ever wanted to do, ever. From a small child, I'd sit draw, color, get lost in my imagination, sew scraps from my father, (who does upholstery work), into pillows and stuff them with tissues... take scraps of his wood, paint them and make name plaques for people, I used whatever I had around me...And if the masking tape or scotch tape were missing,I usually had them. (used for a quick fix)

Quick being the key word.

I do things quickly. If I have to spend a lot of time on one thing, I forget it and move onto the next.

I don't actually do ANYTHING with my stuff.

Some of you are making patterns, like Elizabeth, Some are making books! like Tonya, and Malka, some of you make gorgeous quilt kits, like Nettie,

Some of you homeschool, some strive to make sure your kids DrEaMs & Passions come true, like Amy...

We have these blogs to find community, ideas, inspiration, and hey, the affirmations don't hurt either!

Be Kind to yourself whatever you do...

What my dear Friend, Solange, doesn't say in her comment, is that, She's a single mother of an amazing boy, who works her tail off, is a fabulous writer, goes to school, works two jobs, is smart as a whip, stays up to date on whats happening in the world, and cares a lot about people...

I make things, I give them away, I make more. But this to shall pass.

In a few months you may hear NOTHING about sewing. I never sew in the summer.

I maybe all about my camera, or my garden or my harley, or antiquing, or cooking or my next big idea...

And that's OK.

Do what you love, do what you need, keep on going.

And don't forget to pat yourself on the back once in a while.

Your all pretty amazing at whatever you do!

The quilt above took me two hours to make. I never did circles before.

I went to bring some food to my friend who just had breast cancer surgery, and we decided we wanted to make a quilt while she recovers... She already had an idea, and it was all circles... Wow! I thought...
Never did that before,
So i came home, thought all night about this, and thought, I'd better learn!
And why not?
What she's gone through is enough
inspiration for me to get off my duff and learn something new...

That's what I do...

I make stuff.

  2. I think it means you have a lot to do, want to try it all on for size, and realize that life is too short!

    Interesting post.

  3. Someone else called it Crafters ADD, so that's what I call it. There is so much that I want to do, and not enough time to do it all. And I go through phases where I make different things. But I have to be making - I have to be crafting. I try to remember that my kids might not have a clean house all of the time to live in, but they do have quilts. They won't always live in the same house, but hopefully they'll always have my quilts to wrap up in.

  6. That is so great that you'll be making a quilt with your friend suffering through breast cancer. My mom is going through chemo right now for breast cancer and she loves having things that can help take her mind off of her health.

I love love love the design of your quilt! It's beautiful!

  7. You are well rounded! Sometimes I feel like an oxy-moron between biking and quilting... oposite ends. I too like the quick pieces so I don't loose interest, but I can stay on a theme for a long time... as long as it makes money on etsy I guess. (laughing)

Your circle quilt is fantastic, circles are very appropriate for healing.

    Nice post.

  8. Loved your post. It seems like I go from one thing to another, too! There are so many things to do, and not enough time to do them all! I used to think I had to focus on just one thing, but after reading your post, I realized it's OK to do what moves you right now! So I'm off to pack up my polymer clay stuff for a while, and set up my sewing area again. Right now my sewing machine and ironing board are crammed into the kitchen, between the winter boots and my hubby's fishing gear! Add a helpful cat to this mix, and it gets interesting! But I still managed to get a quilt top pieced last week!
