I'll be stitching while hubby is backpacking. The good thing about driving vs. flying is, I can bring a machine with me, and sometime even come home with another machine, too (I collect vintage machines). Hearing you speak last week and going to the quilt show in Duluth made me twitchy to get back on my machine, so I did yesterday. Started out with the mindset of 15 minutes... which then turned into... oh, I don't know... about 15 HOURS!! Making up for lost time, I guess! You probably wouldn't get much done, but just knowing it was available is comforting! I have found that my inexpensive, but reliable and portable---janome was a great investment---just to available when traveling or visiting a sewing buddy! I also purchased a rolling little piece of luggage to carry it ,and leave it stocked in the closet with notions, some fabrics, and basic tool kit---so it's always ready "to go"-----it's really a good investment that you will use more then you realize--trick is buy something lightweight and small--so bringing it along doesn't feel like a burden of extra luggage.
Happy (hand) Stitchin
ReneeAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13545470108499203423noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1443247585927280557.post-13026757863814736462013-06-18T13:00:52.893-04:002013-06-18T13:00:52.893-04:00I need a break from my machine every now and then,...I need a break from my machine every now and then, so I consider hand sewing a vacation...so calming, quiet, and s-l-o-w. Tiny, lightweight, portable. It lives in our little Airstream camping trailer, along with an old cutting mat, a travel iron, various fabrics and a sewing box filled with anything I may need. So, while my hubby is fishin', I'm sewin'!!!
